Story
Looks like: Australian Shepherd mix Male, 2 years old (estimated), 71 pounds Smiley Koda is a large bundle of energy and love! He is a young gentleman with a heart of gold, interested in long walks (or runs!), and is looking for his forever adventure buddy! Koda does sit on command and but could benefit from a loving, patient, and firm guardian to teach him other basic commands and how to politely walk on leash. He gets along with other dogs but does tend to bark at dogs to let them know he wants to play when he is out on walks. This handsome boy would be a perfect fit for someone who is looking for a young energetic dog who enjoys exercise and lots of affectionate pets and love! Koda would not be a good fit in a home that has cats or children. Koda came to us after his senior guardian passed away.

Story
Meet Ziga, the neutered male Australian Shepherd. Ziga came to the Shelter as a stray so we do not know much about his life before the Shelter. Staff describe him as a handsome yet mischievous neutered male. He loves to be outdoors and happily engage with people. He has met a variety of dogs at the Shelter and has quickly initiated play. He will sometimes engage in herding breed behaviors (not a total shocker since he is well, a herding breed) so breed savvy adopters are recommended. Bonded with his guardian through force free/R+ paired with appropriate mental and physical stimulation will help set Ziga up for success. Patience as Ziga learns life skills and manners (house training, leash walking, etc) will be needed by his new guardians. If you are looking for an active pup to join you on life’s adventures – come meet Ziga today! Now through February 15th, we are hosting “Adopt Your Valentine” where adoption fees are reduced to $50. The adoption fee includes all age appropriate vaccinations, spay/neuter and microchips. Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.

Story
Meet Fern, the aussie! Fern came to the Shelter as a stray with her “friend” Frisbee (a male terrier mix). Staff have observed that she is quiet in the kennel but is perking up with daily interactions with staff and other dogs. Fern is still perfecting life skills and manners such as leash walking and house training. Adopters should be patient in the transition and use force free / +R training to bond with her and help her learn. Staff have commented how sweet Fern is and noted that she enjoys playing fetch with a tennis ball. We do not have any history of Fern with children or cats. Story
Meet Bear, the six year old Aussie mix! Despite being a senior in age (6 years or older) Bear still has plenty of spirit and energy that is common to the Australian Shepherd breed – loves playing fetch and running. Bear has experience living successfully with an 8 year old child and has even given kisses to staff members when interacting at the Shelter. Typical to his breed – Bear is looking for above average mental and physical stimulation from his guardian to aid in him settling during down time. He would enjoy being with his people more often than not. Bear`s adoption has been sponsored by a generous donor. Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. Story
Meet Milo, the Australian Shepherd. Typical to the breed – Milo is a smart cookie and knows “sit”, “lay down”, “stay” and “come”. His favorite toys are balls and he enjoys playing fetch (although he is still perfecting the retrieval part of the game of fetch…). He is also house trained. Staff have observed that Milo is easy to walk on leash and would be a great sidekick for a variety of homes. Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! I promise to fill your life with laughter and endless joy. Primary Color: Brown Secondary Color: White Weight: 53.7 Age: 0yrs 8mths 3wks
