Story
Batman is a rescue I adopted 4 years ago. He has high anxiety and is a nervous dog but is very sweet once he overcomes his fears. He has made much improvement but definitely would need a patient owner willing to slowly work with him to get over his fears. He now will come up to people and allow people to pet him. He also loves cuddling on the bed. He loves dogs even more than he loves people and will learn from them and a home with another dog would be best for him. He also gets along great with cats and older kids who are able to respect his space when he asks for it. He is still fearful of being leashed (though we have been working on that), jumping in cars, and being picked up so a fenced in yard is a ideal as walks are tricky. I have been able to crate train him and he must be crated at night due to waking up in a panic at the slightest noise. He only shows fear-aggression when cornered or picked up. Even then, he will only bare his teeth and warning nips.

Story
We adopted Rue from a shelter at 6 months old. He is sweet and likes people, and loves to play. He is energetic and likes to be taken on walks and play often. He is very well potty trained (we've only ever had one accident in the house in 3 years) and he doesn't chew things up, get into the trash etc. He's very well-behaved in the house. Since getting Rue we have struggled with intense reactivity and anxiety. He does not like any other animals, especially dogs, and is aggressive toward them in and out of the house. We've tried exposure, anxiety medication, and three different trainers who used different approaches and nothing has solved the issue. He also is very nervous and anxious and it can be intense. As a result of these behavior issues, especially when we are considering having children soon, we're making the difficult decision to rehome Rue. We believe he'd do best in an area with a lot of land or a farm outside of the city, and a home with no other animals.

Story
In Dunlap, TN -Artie is ready for his forever home! Artie is special needs, as he is completely blind. He has done so well in his foster home. Artie is a 1 year old Australian mix who is completely blind. He is neutered, current on all vaccinations, on heartworm prevention and microchipped. Artie is a lively boy filled with curiosity about the world. He loves the sound of planes overhead and the rustle of the leaves in the wind and the feel of the sun and wind on his face. He is potty trained (but taken out quite often). He loves being in the house with his people and also running outside with his two Aussie friends. He is crate trained and rarely puts up a bark about going into the crate. He loves the contents of a full toy basket and will empty it to make sure he shares his attention with each toy. He is very smart and is learning commands. Artie has been blind since birth but he is so eager to find his way. You would not know he's blind as he maneuvers around the house and outside. He bumps into things occasionally, but he keeps right on going. He will follow you anywhere if you have treats. He may be able to detect light and movement of shapes. We have hopes that Artie will become a very enjoyable and loved family pet, as he is not aggressive or reactive in the least and has a soft mouth when playing with toys and loves a good pet and scratch. Artie would do well with a companion dog, preferably a dog his size or larger. He is also very capable of entertaining himself with his toys and would do well as an only “child” because he loves his people and wants to be wherever they are. He needs a fenced yard so he can run and play without veering off in a wrong direction. He will need continued leash training, but should do well with time and consistency. What Artie needs most is a loving human who is patient and can help guide him through the world and keep him safe and someone who will be dedicated to him and make him part of the family. He will love you and you will love him! He is ready for adventures. Check out Artie. If you would like to consider making Artie a part of your family, please fill out our adoption application at the link below. https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption... There is an additional $20 microchip fee which includes registration and transfer to his new furever family.

Story
Handsome Henry is available for adoption. He was found wandering around a campground and as the shelter was over capacity, we took him in as a foster. He was dirty, drooling and scared and had to be carried. He really bonded with our visiting 16-year-old grandson who let him know that the leash was good! Henry soon began to feel safe, and it was love at first sight with our dog! Play, play, zoomie. Play more, rest up and play more. He has not had a single accident in the house and does not seem to know a stranger. He interacted nicely with a child at the shelter during his short time there in the office and he has made friends with the neighbor dogs as well. He is so sweet and loves to be with us all the time including bedtime, snuggles in the bed before he moves to his big pillow on the floor then back in the morning for a visit. Morning routine: snuggles, outside to potty, inside for breakfast, later a leash walk for him to go potty and back inside. A fenced yard is highly recommended. Henry and my dog got in a bit of trouble when left alone. Now we put them on the deck and have dog proofed it. Ceiling fans and a big water bowl plus chew toys are there. He loves to chew. Stuffies and toilet paper rolls have a been killed so it is the heavy duty chewies for Henry! Henry is neutered and current on immunizations. He is HW negative and housebroken. He will guard his food at mealtime, so he needs to be fed separately. He shares his toys and space with humans. If he were smaller, he would be a lap dog. He settles for putting his head and paws in your lap, snuggling in bed with you and lying down beside your chair. He has a LOT of thick fur but likes being brushed and is ok with his bath and nail trim, too. I think he would especially love to have a home with another dog since he is young and loves to play. If Henry sounds perfect for you, please fill out our application. There is an additional $20 microchip fee which includes registration and transfer to his new furever family. Story
Ladies and Gentleman start your engines" Indie is here! This is one fun, active and loving dog! First thing that comes to mind when I think of Indie, is The Indianapolis 500. She is fast, has lots of fun power and is loyal to her sponsor/family. Indie just came back to us through no fault of her own. Sadly, her parents have been juggling work schedules and could not make it work. Indie has a wonderful temperament, a loyal and sweet blend of Cattle Dog and Australian Shephard. She would be ideal for an active, attentive family with a fenced yard. (Only reviewing applications with fenced yards) Did I mention she's an Internet sensation in Dalton? Many have seen her cruising around downtown in the infamous Red Convertible and eating at local eateries. This gal fits in everywhere and loves having a side kick.Come meet our "Winner"; she will steal your heart! To adopt this pet, please go to hsnwga.org, 'Adoption' then 'Application for Adoption', to complete an online application to be preapproved. Due to the high volume of applications received, our Adoption Coordinator will only contact the applicant that best meets the needs of the pet.
