Story
**AVAILABLE!** This is Madeline's much awaited available post! Madeline is a purebred Australian Shepherd approximately 2 to 3 years old. She is a (now) spayed female weighing 50 lb. We rescued Madeline from an overcrowded shelter out of Logan, Utah. She had been surrendered by owners who surrendered her as an intact male named Bo. 🤦 Imagine our surprise halfway through the transport when our wonderful friend Hannah who overnighted this bunch, discovered that Bo is a Beatrice! A female! 🤣 We have further discovered that she had more than likely suffered a traumatic injury to the left side of her head at some point, rupturing her eardrum. Yesterday, while she was under being spayed, our vet did some exploratory in that ear and found a bunch of debris way down in the canal wedged up against a healing eardrum, which she removed. There is no infection and it looks like the tympanic membrane is healing. The head tilt and circling to the left should dissipate in time. She is also an alpha female, and starts fights readily. But as you can see from the video if you have a balanced pack or even a balanced dog, and aren't crazy like me, she does just fine. I suspect some of the fights are caused by dogs that are uncomfortable with her approach with the tilted head and the circling and she's kind of a bumbler. If they growl the fight is on. She's no slouch! She is very comfortable in a crate, seems to be very housebroken. Hasn't had a single accident. She's not destructive, doesn't chew anything up. She is an excited/alert barker and has a very loud voice, but she does stop on command. She's probably not the best choice for a first-time dog owner, and I'm seeking someone with some herding dog experience. She's not a particularly active Aussie, but these dogs do benefit, mentally and physically, from some vigorous daily exercise. She's a very sweet dog, likes everybody she's met and could care less about the cat and chickens.

Story
Tucker is a sweet, affectionate boy looking for a patient and loving home where he can continue to build his confidence and feel safe. He came to the Mission from our friends at SCRAPS and has an estimated birthdate of 03/03/2014.  Personality & Energy Level: Gentle and affectionate, and he thrives on love and attention. He’s still adjusting and isn’t fully playful yet, but there are moments where his joy shines through, especially when he gets to go for walks or run around in the yard. Currently, he is not treat or toy motivated. His biggest reward is feeling safe and loved. He's very quiet and he hasn’t barked once in his foster home. Tucker can be a little unsure around men, but he’s starting to warm up with patience. Training & Behavior:  Leash-trained! He doesn’t pull but may zig-zag with excitement. He is kennel-trained and once inside, he settles quickly and stays quiet. His house-training skills are in progress. He currently wears a belly band, but he’s learning and having fewer accidents. This sweet gentile guy is not destructive in any way, and he doesn’t jump on furniture or chew up household items. For car rides, he doesn’t jump in on his own, but he’s easy to pick up and stays calm. His foster is working on stairs with him – he’s gaining confidence but still needs encouragement. Ideal Home: Tucker would thrive in a calm, loving home with someone who understands that he’s still adjusting and will need time to feel fully comfortable. He would do best with someone patient and affectionate who can help him feel safe while gently encouraging independence. A home with another confident dog could be beneficial, but he’d also do well as an only dog with plenty of love and reassurance. Tucker is ready for his forever home—one where he can feel safe, loved, and slowly come out of his shell. If you’re looking for a devoted companion who just wants to be by your side, Tucker might be your perfect match! Tucker comes home neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and microchipped. His adoption fee is waived as he is a senior. If you're interested in adopting Tucker, please begin by filling out an application at www.murcismission.org.  Thanks for checking out Tucker! ##2339666##
