Story
Oreo is a beautiful loving pup. He was born in September and I got him at the end of October so is almost 6 months old. He is a Australian Shepherd, Boxer, Husky Mix. He is potty and crate trained. He is good with kids. He is more of a working dog, also I got two pups and can only keep one due to landlord. He loves to make you happy and is a ball of joy and energy. Please help me get him to his forever home!

Story
Meet Xena – a 5-year-old purebred, registered Australian Shepherd looking for a home where she can thrive. She came to me a year ago to help a friend transitioning out of the military. Due to life changes, they couldn’t take her back, and now I’m searching for her forever home. She’s 5 years old, full of love and personality, and true to her breed—loyal, sweet, smart, and energetic. She knows how to sit, lay down, and shake paw (especially if there’s food involved!), and loves being near her people. While she’s not perfect on a leash, she never wanders far—she’s always checking in and watching over everyone like the natural herder she is. When we visit my parents’ farm, she lights up—running, exploring, but always sticking close to the family. She needs more of that kind of life— She needs space to play and be the brilliant, bouncy Aussie she was born to be. If you’re looking for a loyal adventure buddy, a farm dog, or best friend Xena may be your girl.

Story
In Summerville: Meet Millie. Like most rescues she has had a rough start to her life and has some PTSD but she is really starting to work through them and build trust with people. She is a beautiful 3 yo blue Merle that came from a puppy mill. When her breeding life was done she was put on a euthanasia list but luckily was saved by our rescue. Upon coming to rescue she was incredibly untrusting of people and had no emotion in her eyes. She would not let me pet her and would not eat food while I was in the house. Fast forward 6 weeks she took treats for the first time but still didn’t trust enough to let me pet her. Getting into her personal space would trigger a frantic response to get away. Now after 11 weeks I can walk up to her and pet her. She still will not come to me for petting but you can see in her body language that she really wants to be loved. Another trigger for Millie is having a collar and leash put on. This makes her freeze and shut down. We have been working on this and making slow progress but it is improving. She is very collar sensitive so will need continued work on that. Millie may never be a cuddle buddy but she will make someone a great companion dog. She will need someone kind and gentle but also someone who will push her to try new things to help build her confidence and gain trust in people. She has come such a long way but still has quite a way to go. Because she is still so unsure of her surroundings and quick movements scare her I would not recommend her for a house with young children. Her sweet disposition and eagerness to get over her barriers will melt your heart the minute you meet her. She gets along well with my dog although she does not engage in play. She is discovering toys and starting to have fun throwing them around. Anyone willing to put in a little work to build a relationship with her will get a fantastic loving dog that will show a loyalty unmatched by many dogs. If you think Millie is a good fit for you, pleae fill out our application: https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application There is an additional $20 microchip fee which includes registration and transfer to her new furever family.

Story
Jinx—available for adoption in Summerville!. Get your application in soon for this big beautiful boy. A dog this awesome won’t last long. He is 15 months old, neutered and current on immunizations. Jinx found himself back in rescue through no fault of his own when he wasn’t fitting into his adoptive home. He has been back in rescue for just over a week and this is what we have found out—he is house trained, crate trained, gets along with other dogs, loves to play, is super affectionate, knows basic commands and makes a great cuddle buddy. He does need some refinement on a few manners but overall is a very good boy. He is on the larger side for an Aussie and has a thick beautiful auburn coat. If you are looking for an active, fun dog then Jinx could be the perfect dog for you. If you think he is perfect for you , pleaes fill out our application: https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application There is an additional $20 microchip fee which includes registration and transfer to his new furever family.
