Story
Meet Dexter – your new best friend! He is a sweet, happy boy who’s ready to brighten your day! He’s friendly, loves attention, and will happily stay by your side for as long as you’re willing to pet him. This loveable guy enjoys getting all the back scratches and will sit on command (he lays on command too, but he can be a stubborn at time), taking treats gently from your hand. Belly rubs are his absolute favorite though! Though he’s got a bit of excitement in him (he’s known for his happy hops), his happy personality shines through, and he’s proven himself to be quite social. He certainly has lots to say and is known as quite vocal. Dexter has a high energy level, and can easily transition into a really playful mode. He`s still a puppy at heart. Dexter would love to find a home where he can shower his new family with love, affection, and his endless happy energy!

Story
Meet Jingle! 🐾 Jingle is a sweet young (appx 2 years old) Collie mix girl with a gentle soul and a heart full of love. She’s spayed, up-to-date on her vet care, and currently living in a foster home with 5 other playful pups, two cats, and a young child. Jingle gets along well with other dogs, but she’d also be happy as the only pup in a quieter home or with a small, calm pack—large or loud environments can be a bit much for her. A peaceful home where someone is around most of the day would be her dream! She thrives with calm, patient people who understand that trust takes time, especially with men, but once you earn her love, she’s incredibly loyal and affectionate. She’s curious about cats—she might give chase, but it’s all in play, not aggression. Jingle loves being home with her people most of all, and she's happiest when she's included in the daily rhythm of life. This clever girl is crate trained, doing great with her leash manners, and she loves agility activities in the backyard! With a little encouragement, she could shine in agility sports. She’s also a top-notch package alert system—she takes her job as home protector seriously (but not aggressively!). A few quirks to know about Jingle: • She can get car sick if riding in a crate, but does fine buckled into a seat. • She’s an occasional escape artist—a fully fenced yard is a must, and a GPS tracker on her collar would be a smart addition. • Her recall needs work, so leash walks and secure outdoor time are key. • She recently started anxiety medication, and it's helped her tremendously. A calm home may alleviate the need for medication. If you’re looking for a loyal, smart, and loving companion who just needs a little patience and a calm environment to thrive, Jingle might be your perfect match. 🐶💕 📍Apply to adopt Jingle: www.houstoncollierescue.org

Story
Meet Dongdong, a young dog with a heart full of love and a mind full of curiosity. He`s a bundle of energy, always ready to play and explore. He weighs 29 pounds and likes running, toys, walks, and chase but not car rides. He also has a shy side, often seeking the comfort of a warm lap to snuggle into. He`s smart, quickly picking up on commands and routines, and is already house trained. He knows the sit, wait, drop it, no, down, and let`s go commands. Dongdong`s protective nature makes him a wonderful companion, always ready to stand by your side. His barking proves what a reliable burglar alarm he is. His excitability is infectious, spreading joy wherever he goes. He`s a bundle of joy, constantly jumping around, making every moment a playtime. He thinks being on a leash is his opportunity to jump even more. He tends to be a bit needy, seeking constant companionship. He can be a bit fearful around other dogs, and he has no experience with children. But what makes Dongdong truly special is his lovable nature. He`s a cuddly, affectionate little guy who is sure to bring warmth and happiness to any home. He was only given up because his owner could no longer afford to care for him. Adopt Dongdong and open your heart to a love that knows no bounds. (tw 4/18/2025)

Meet Dandelion, a young and spirited dog who`s ready to fill your life with joy and happiness. Her sweet nature is complemented by her curiosity, making each day a new adventure. She weighs 40 pounds and is playful and energetic, always ready for a game of fetch or a brisk walk. Despite her energy, she`s also incredibly cuddly and shy, cherishing quiet moments of affection. Dandelion is friendly and always happy, her tail wagging in excitement at every new friend. She`s jumpy, bouncy, and her affectionate kisses are sure to melt your heart. She`s leash trained too, making walks a breeze, but we aren`t sure if she is house trained. Please be patient if you need to teach her the ropes. She`s treat motivated, making training a fun and rewarding experience. Dandelion is wonderful with children, her gentleness coming to the fore in their presence. She also tolerates cats, making her a perfect fit for a household with a feline member but we haven`t seen her interact with dogs yet. Adopt Dandelion, and you`ll gain a loyal companion who`ll make every day brighter. (tw 4/22/2025)

Story
Meet Jonah, a 43-pound puppy with a heart full of joy. His energy is never ending as he eagerly spreads happiness wherever he goes. He`s curious, always ready to explore the world around him, demonstrating his jumpy enthusiasm while on a leash. We don`t know if he is house trained so please be patient if he needs guidance. His playful nature means he`s always up for a game of fetch or a tug-of-war. He`s alert and friendly, eager to meet new friends. We haven`t seen him interact with children or other dogs but he is very friendly towards his shelter neighbors and acts like he is eager to play with them. But he`s not all energy because Jonah loves cuddling up for a good nap on your lap, his kisses a sign of his affection. Jonah is eager to use his mouth when playing with humans and he`s a bit rough around the edges. His excitable nature means he needs some training to help him be the best dog he can be. But with a little patience and a lot of love, he`s sure to be a wonderful addition to any family. Adopt Jonah, and let his boundless energy and love brighten up your life. (tw 4/10/2025)

Story
This handsome boy is a total gem. Zeus is easy to leash up, walks well without pulling, and has just the right balance of playfulness and calm. He’s got a thing for zoomies in the yard, but also loves to chill when it’s time to relax. Treats? He takes them gently from your hand, and he knows how to sit on command (he definitely knows what to do, he just doesn’t always to it 100% of the time – he just needs a little more practice to perfect it). Sometimes he’ll even give you a little hug with his front paws when he gets excited – it’s his way of saying, “I’m happy to see you!” Zeus is the perfect companion with a medium energy level. He loves pets and will happily stand by your side to soak up the love, but he’s also independent enough to keep himself entertained when needed. We’re not sure what like was like for him before, but it must have bene pretty tough judging by the way he’s missing the top of one of his ears. Despite whatever he’s been through Zeus hasn’t lost his good attitude and sunny outlook on life.
