East Tn and out of state is welcome! In fact if you are seeing this on adopt a pet please note the pet is being fostered in Athens TN and the adoption fee does include the transport fee as well as the health certificate required by the USDS for state to state travel. We use Rescue riders because they are the best and so great with our pups! Meet Aster. He has already been dewormed twice, had two rounds of puppy shots, bordetella vaccine, microchipped and neutered. We are accepting applications for them at petpath.org. He will come with a leash and collar as well as his records. We are told he is about 12 weeks old now. He is one cool confident and cute pup!!! He is also playful, sweet. All of these pups have great confidence. He is great with other dogs too. The momma dog passed away and the finders are uncertain why. She was malnourished emaciated and just passed away. She was found with these puppies under a shed. The property owners moved and left the momma dog. The finder was paid to move the shed and found them and couldn’t leave them there. They fed and took care of them for three weeks. We are thankful they have a heart and helped this little family. Now it’s our turn to help get their vaccines and spay and neutered and them find amazing homes. Apply at petpath.org Personality traits Affectionate, Athletic, Curious, Friendly, Loves, Playful, Smart, Brave

Story
This boy was brought back because he was too much of a puppy who chewed because he was left alone and bored. So he is on the hunt for a family who will understand his needs and keep him busy!! He has a lot of energy and playing is his thing. He likes to play with other dogs, chew on toys and run run run. He does fine with kids, will have to learn about cats. He will need some work on housetraining and leashes. He is a bit stubborn when learning manners so will need a family who can work with that. A routine that occupies his time would also be a plus as that works with his breed mix. He is a sweet boy that has a wonderfully fun personality who just wants to live to the fullest. He needs a life full of adventures and activities and we know that family is out there for him. Dax is being fostered in TN but no worries because we use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport. They transport every weekend alternating between the Northeast and the Midwest.

Story
Mr. Max needs a new foster, foster to adopt or adopter ASAP! His foster is travelling and cannot fit Max with her 2 dogs. Mr. Max is a GORGEOUS 8 yr old, Australian Shepherd or possibly an Australian Shepherd/Golden Retriever mix. Mr. Max came to ASF after his owner passed away and the family could not care for him due to health issues. Max lived in his home alone for approx. 1 month being checked on daily. We have no idea if Max witnessed his owner's passing. Mr. Max is good with other dogs and after a few weeks in foster is finally playing with the foster's 1 dog, although the other is not a fan of Mr. Max. He is utd on vaccines, on preventatives, microchipped and was neutered (in the last few weeks. The best foster or adopter for Mr. Max will be someone who can continue his training. Someone with patience that believes an old dog can learn new tricks! Mr. Max is a strong leash puller and is reactive (not aggressive) in the yard and on leash to other dogs and people. He is mistrusting of new people until he has a chance to settle down and meet them on his terms. We do not know if he was just sheltered or if this is trauma from his owner's passing. Max is also quite vocal, so a home in the country or with some property and no close neighbors would be ideal. However, he is improving and lessening his barking. Mr. Max is also in the process of crate training and is getting better every day. When Max first came into ASF he was intact and marking in the home. That has ceased with his neuter, but he may try it in a new home at first. It's nothing belly bands can't handle until he is comfortable. Mr. Max has not been exposed to cats or children. Max would be good alone or with another dog. He is a good boy at the vet, but nervous in the car so he needs to be crated or tethered. Max's ideal home, foster or adopter, will have a fenced yard and the time and patience to continue his training. This senior boy still has years of love to give!! Will you be Mr. Max's forever? Here is the application: https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application There is an additional $20 microchip fee which includes registration and transfer to his new furever family. All adoption fees are used for future rescue efforts. If you are interested in fostering:https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/foster

Story
Millie is an 8 year old Aussie looking for a home without small children. She is currently boarding with a trainer. The Good: Millie has good obedience skills and is a pro at fun tricks. She has an incredible food and toy drive and would be a lot of fun in agility, nose work, etc. She is very sweet and affectionate once she forms a bond with you, which only takes a few minutes if you bring food or toys. She loves water and her perfect home would take her swimming-pools, rivers, lakes, beach-she loves them all! Millie is in great health, has been part of her current family since she was a puppy, and is spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations. The Bad: No young children, please! Possibly older dog savvy kids would be ok. Millie had a bite history with a handler which will be fully discussed with a potential adopter (once in 8 years). Millie may exhibit stranger danger, but she's perfectly fine with appropriate introductions. She simply doesn’t appreciate being pressured by strangers but if they have food, she’ll make an exception. This is generally only an issue inside her home, but once introduced properly she’s fine. From her owners: "We've made the tough decision to find a new loving home for Millie after over 8 years of companionship. Our growing family, with a 1-year-old and another on the way, isn't compatible with Millie's needs. Both our vet and professional trainers support this decision. Our top priority is to secure the best possible environment for Millie.” **This is a courtesy posting only.  If interested in Millie, please email  foxhollowkennel@gmail.com.   ##1847581##

Story
Meet Octavia, our sweet and gentle Australian Shepherd mix girl. As one of our longer-stay pups, Octavia is truly hoping to find her forever family soon. This lovely lady has impeccable house manners and enjoys a routine that includes walks after breakfast and dinner, with shorter potty breaks at lunch and before bedtime. While she does fine in her crate, Octavia would much rather lounge on the carpet with a view of the television. She's even been known to be trustworthy for several hours alone in the house while her foster is away.   Octavia is calm and gentle with the resident kitties and gets along well with other dogs, though she prefers the company of calm companions over rambunctious, playful ones. She adores going on "sniffaris" in the neighborhood, especially in wooded areas where she can explore and enjoy nature. Despite a difficult start to life that left her shy and nervous in new situations, Octavia’s joyful personality shines through, especially during walks or when she overcomes a challenge and is proud of herself.   This intelligent girl has excellent strategic thinking skills and learns by observing. She even gains confidence by watching her friends so a balanced pup or friendly kitty in the home would be ideal for her. Octavia is a laid-back pup with a relaxed temperament who loves casual walks, and enjoys hanging out in the house for movie time and popcorn. She LOVES to be petted once she trusts you and will gently ask for more by placing her paw on you.   Octavia is not your typical high-energy, barky Aussie looking for a job. Instead, she’s quite content to supervise you in your home office, which really means taking a nap nearby. She gets excited about snuffle mats, and training sessions, as they mean treats. While she needs a little time to build her confidence, we see more of her bouncy, playful side as it grows.   If you’re ready to welcome a sweet, gentle soul like Octavia into your home, apply to adopt her on our website. She’s ready to bring her calm, loving presence to her forever family.   At the time you are seeing this post, this dog is still available for adoption. But please know that we may be working on multiple applications already, and any one of them could be approved at any time. Please READ THIS ENTIRE DESCRIPTION and complete an adoption application, if you are interested in any of our animals. Application at www.greendogsunleashed.org If you send an inquiry to ask if the dog is still available, or just tell us you are interested, your inquiry will not be answered. FILL OUT AN APPLICATION. We can do NOTHING without that. No, we cannot tell you if he would be a match for your family without seeing an application. PLEASE KEEP READING for info. */*/* PLEASE NOTE: The first communication you will receive after completing an application will be an email response, which will have instructions on how to proceed. Please check your inbox AND spam folders for the next 48 hours, for this email. We will not begin processing an application without the information requested in that email. */*/* We are happy to consider applicants from out of state on most dogs. Please read the description to see if this dog is an exception. If the applicant is approved to adopt, they MUST be willing to come to our location in Troy, VA, for a meet and greet. If all parties agree that the pup and family are a good fit, they would take the pup home at that time. For more information about our mission and for an APPLICATION for adoption, please go to www.greendogsunleashed.com. GDU does ask a minimum adoption fee of $400.00. This does not even come close to covering all expenses created by animals while in rescue. We are funded solely by the angels and volunteers willing to donate time and finances. This minimum fee includes DAPP, rabies if age appropriate,, heartworm test and preventative, if age appropriate, and flea and tick treatment, as well as neutering or spaying, if the animal is medically sound to undergo surgery. In an attempt to avoid tummy upset from a sudden change of food, the foster family may include a small, transitional bag of the food the dog/puppy has been eating. And if the dog/puppy has grown attached to a special item (like a toy or blanket), they may send that along, as well. */*/* Young puppies will receive age-appropriate vaccines, and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Adopters may be required to provide additional puppy boosters and at 16 weeks of age, a rabies vaccine. Future annual vaccines, testing and monthly heartworm preventative are REQUIRED, and will be the financial responsibility of the adopter. *****Due to the sheer number of animals and applications in our program, coupled with a limited number of volunteers, applicants MUST have patience as we process applications.   If you do not hear back from us, the animal may have been adopted.   We strive to let people know but sadly cannot offer reasons for denial beyond that.  Any harassment of our volunteers will go unanswered and we will simply block you.   Our volunteers spend their time working hard to ensure the very best for each animal.   Please remember the animal, not the applicant, is our client.*****  ##1870754##
