He needs to find a new furever home as soon as possible! If you think you can provide a great home for Ozzie, please contact the owner listed below. Story
Meet RC in Blackstone, VA - Stealing hearts one smile at a time!! RC is looking for his furever home! He is one of the Soda Pop pups from WV who is being fostered in Blackstone, VA. RC has a heart of gold and the most mesmerizing blue eyes that you have ever seen! This adorable puppy is almost 5 months old, 25lbs and an absolute cuddle bug who lives to snuggle! His parents are 35 & 45 lbs so he will be a standard size when full grown. RC is still working on potty training but knows to go when he is outside. He is crate trained and puts himself to bed but does wake you if you sleep in. He is working on some obedience commands such as come and leave it. He has mastered sit and gives both paws. He will also wait for the command before he goes outside. He has 2 faults, if you can even call them that. One, he is quite shy and takes time to warm up and accept new people. Two, he gets car sick and will need time and consistency to hopefully outgrow that. RC is up to date on vaccines and on preventatives. He will need to be neutered when he is a bit older. RC will do best with another dog in the home so that he can learn to conquer his shyness. His furever family will need to be patient and consistent with his training so that he grows into a respectful family member. If you think that RC is perfect for you, please fill out our application. https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application There is an additional $50 REFUNDABLE neuter deposit that will be refunded upon proof of neuter and a $20 microchip fee which includes registration and transfer to his new furever family. All adoption fees are used for future rescue efforts.

Story
We only recently got her from someone who was moving to a space that they felt was too small for Star and her energetic personality. She is about a year old. She is very sweet and has been great with my young children. She loves attention and cuddles. However there's some things that have been an issue. For some reason (seemingly territorial) she does not get along with our current dog. The dog we have is mix breed of chocolate lab. They are similar in size, and our lab is very docile, but been getting defensive when Star becomes territorial and/or tries to play. I really don't want to see any of them get hurt. Also concerned about my kids getting caught up in it. Anyway otherwise she can be very submissive, I've been trying to train her out of flipping onto her back whenever I go to interact with her (putting on a harness, etc.). I marked her as not house trained but I think she just had a routine with her original owner and really hasn't gotten used to all the adjustments yet.

Story
We adopted Dexter in November 2019 from a rescue group. They assumed he had been feral for an extended time. When he came into our home, he was extremely timid and had difficulty walking through thresholds. Since that time, he has completed basic obedience training. Within his own home, he can quickly perform sit, down, stay, look, touch and break commands. He is very obedient when there are few external distractions. However, despite our best efforts and the progress Dexter has made, several factors have led us to consider rehoming him. This decision has not been easy for our family, and we have struggled with it. We feel that Dexter would thrive in an environment conducive to his herding tendencies. A person who has no other pets or kids, a large property, and experience training an intelligent herder would be the best fit for him. I would be glad to share more about our history with Dexter for those interested.

Story
Meet Patrick! This little cutie is brand new to the shelter, but truly a looker (especially with that goofy cheeky smile). We estimate that Patrick is a young boy, approx. 1 year or less. We're not really sure about his breeding, but we're guessing this tricolor pup has maybe some border collie mix in him. What do you think? Regardless, he's a beautiful, affectionate boy in need of a loving home, and we hope he's the right fit for you! If you're interested in meeting Patrick, visit the shelter or send an email to adoptpetersburg@gmail.com and include "Patrick" in the subject line.
