Story
To adopt this cat from Black Cat Rescue, please fill out a profile https://blackcatrescue.com/adopt-cat-boston All about Hank from his foster home! How would you describe the cat's general personality? Hank is very sociable and very opinionated 5 year old boy! He wants to be the center of attention and keep his humans company all the time. Does the cat enjoy being pet? Most of the time, yes - sometimes he just wants to hang out nearby and not be touched. He's pretty good about letting you know with body language whether he'd like pets or just hangouts. If yes, on what parts of its body does the cat like to be pet? He really enjoys getting his forehead and cheeks scratched, as well as his sides and back Are there any parts of its body that the cat does NOT like being touched? He doesn't like having his legs or feet touched very much Does the cat come on your lap? He will walk across my lap but doesn't settle there Does the cat like to be held? No - he really hates to be picked up Does the cat sleep in your bed? N/A (he's not allowed in my room)   Does the cat seek your attention? Yes, very much - any time I leave the house, when I get back he scolds me for leaving him alone! He likes to curl up on the couch next to me when I'm sitting there, or hop up onto the kitchen counter to try to help when I'm making dinner. Does the cat like to play? What are the cat's favorite games and toys? A little bit, but not much - he likes to scratch on cardboard scratchers and scratching posts, and he likes to paw at crinkly plastic. He doesn't seem very interested in chasing any toys, though. How vocal is the cat?  What kinds of sounds does the cat make? He is so very vocal! He makes very loud and authoritative MROW noises when he wants attention, or when he's meeting a new person or exploring a new place. He meows more quietly when he's trying to get attention from someone sitting near him. His most tragic meows are reserved for when doors are closed and he wants to go through them. Does the cat scratch a scratcher? Yes - he also scratches the frames of closed doors and the arms of chairs. Does the cat always use the litter box? For the most part - he's a very long boy and sometimes slightly misses the inside of the box when peeing, so I think he needs an extra-long litter box. What food and frequency is the cat currently eating? I'm currently feeding him one can of wet food (friskies, a mix of different types) and one scoop of dry food (purina naturals cat chow) per day Is the cat picky about food? Yes - he is not super food-motivated, so it can sometimes be tricky to get him to eat. He seems pretty indifferent to the wet food, so I started him on some dry food as well, and he's more excited about that.   What is the cat's favorite treat? He loves cold cuts, especially sliced turkey! Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances? Yes - he hates to be picked up, and swats when you try to scoop him up. Has the cat ever scratched (claws out) you? No Does the cat ever nip (teeth without breaking skin) you? No   Has the cat ever bitten you (breaking skin)? No To the best of your knowledge, how does the cat react to new people? Social? Fearful? He is curious and also has to meow at them a whole bunch so they know who's boss. After a little while, he settles in almost as comfortably as he does with no visitors around! Does that cat have any cute/quirky traits that aren’t covered by the previous questions? He's really curious, and likes to climb into boxes and bins and knock things over! He also eats wet food by putting his paw in the dish and then licking the food off his paw, which is kind of gross but VERY cute. He headbutts a lot to show affection, even more so than other cats do! In your opinion, what is the best thing about the cat? Why should an adopter choose THIS cat to adopt? Hank has a big personality and he's a great presence to have in the house. He's very pretty and he knows he's very important. He will hang out with you and keep you company and have whole drawn-out conversations with you on a daily basis. He's very affectionate, and is generally very good and loving company! What are the cat's challenges and how have you found to best manage them? Hank is very loud, kind of messy, and a little neurotic. He really needs to be an only pet, and probably would do best in a household of adults - teens/older kids may also work out fine, but I don't think he'd get along well with babies or young children. I've found that figuring out what he needs (food, entertainment, etc) is pretty easy but finding the right thing to fill that need (food he wants to eat, games he wants to play, etc) is a little more complicated and as a result I think he'd thrive with someone who's home a lot and is able to take the time to puzzle out his quirks and preferences! Story
Hello there, my name is Cashman! I am a 2 year old neutered male kitty, and after lots of time in foster care, I am ready to meet my new family! I can be shy at first, but I do love attention from people once I am comfortable. I am not so much a lapcat, and when startled or overstimulated I can give a nip. But, cats? I love them! They don't always love me, because when I am playing, I like to roughhouse, and that can annoy my feline friends sometimes. I hear about dogs, but I have never met one. I think I may be able to get along with a calm dog that won't bother me too much.I am currently on a special diet for urinary health which will need a prescription from my adopters vet because of this, a veterinary reference will be required before an application can be approved. I am still in foster care because when I am brought to new places, I get very overwhelmed and nervous. So, if you want to meet me, you will have to talk to my good friends at the shelter to put together a meet & greet with me.Our shelter is open Tuesday-Sunday from 12-4 (closed Mondays). If you are interested in this pet, please review our adoption process at www.lowellhumanesociety.org/adoption/#process so you're prepared to adopt & stop by the shelter with the required information to take home this pet (but please remember Cashman is currently in foster care so he will not be in the building until a meet & greet is scheduled!)
