Story

This is dozer, a 5 year old English bulldog. Dozer first came to me at 12 weeks old. I had him for 2 years and he was rehomed due to ongoing costs anssociated with eye and anxiety issues to a not so loving home (unknown to me). He was not taken care of properly and more than likely experienced quite a bit of abuse. I have been nurturing him back to better health since late November of last year after getting a call from a kill shelter stating if I did not pick him up he would be euthanized. He currently requires eyedrops 2-3 times daily and is medicated twice a day for his anxiety. Through all of his struggles he has remained the sweetest boy. I am still unable to keep up with his ongoing medical expenses but, before rehoming him again I wanted to ensure he was back to full health. He will be neutered prior to being rehomed and sent with full refills of his current medications. He will require a visit to an eye specialist relatively soon that I will be unable to pay for.

English Bulldog Age: 2 yrs old Male, Neutered 33 lbs Adoption Fee: $125 (includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations) Otis was found as a stray and turned into the local shelter. He was pretty healthy, but had a condition called “cherry eye” in both eyes. Our vet attempted to fix both eyes - the success rate for this repair is about 50/50. One eye is healing nicely, the other may not be so lucky, time will tell. Cherry eye is mostly a cosmetic issue, and doesn’t affect their ability to see. English bulldogs in general often have LOTS of medical issues. The only other observable condition, so far, is a flea allergy. Otis had a lot of energy, a lot of humping and marking before he was neutered. Within a week following surgery, there was a big difference in his behavior. He is young and still energetic at times, but he is also very sweet and loves to cuddle. We pulled Otis at the same time we pulled another English Bulldog, a female named Courtney, from the same shelter. We thought that they may have come from the same home and were bonded. They do get along very well and probably bonded in a bulldog breed bonding sort of way. Please note that we don’t adopt any of our dogs out to homes with children under the age of 13. English Bulldog Age: 5-6 yrs old Female, Spayed 38 lbs Adoption Fee: $125 (includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations) Courtney was found as a stray and turned into the local shelter. She had an abscess on her paw that needed medical attention. Upon evaluation by our vet, it was observed that she also has dry eye syndrome, ectropion eyelids that turn in, but her corneas were in pretty good shape. There were also sutures still in place on her lower abdominal area. The incision was too small for a recent C-section and there were no other signs that she had been recently pregnant (although she has likely had puppies in the past). It could have been from a recent spay, but lab testing indicated that she was still intact. It is a mystery as to why the incision w/ sutures was there. Our vet spayed her and fixed her eyelids. She is on ointment and eye drops for the chronic dry eyes, but it is possible that this will correct itself over time. English bulldogs in general often have LOTS of medical issues. Courtney had some domination issues with the volunteers when she first came to us. After some consistent and stringent correction, that behavior considerably lessened, but she will need to be monitored when meeting strangers. Otherwise, she is very sweet and loves attention. We pulled Courtney at the same time we pulled another English Bulldog, a male named Otis, from the same shelter. We thought that they may have come from the same home and were bonded. They do get along very well and probably bonded in a bulldog breed bonding sort of way. Please note that we don’t adopt any of our dogs out to homes with children under the age of 13. Lola enjoys meeting new people and is generous with her affection. She is a Bulldog mix and is approximately 7 years old. She needs lifelong medication for her chronic dry eye and environmental allergies, both of which are under good control with her current regimen. She recently had to have her right eye removed but has healed well from the surgery. She is current on all vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. She is house-trained and crate-trained. She would love a new home where she can get the attention and affection she so enjoys. She should be placed as an only dog, as she does not get along with other dogs.
