Story
Hello there! I'm S'mores, a charming bulldog with a heart as soft as my fur. While I might come across as a bit shy and reserved at first, give me a moment, and you'll see the warmth in my eyes unfold. I'm at my best when I'm in the company of dogs my size. Growing up surrounded by five furry bulldog siblings, I guess I've developed a preference for canine camaraderie. Big dogs wanting to play? Sorry, it's a firm "no" from me. I might even get a bit defensive, but hey, it's just me guarding the treasures of my bulldog memories. My sheltered upbringing left me a bit sensitive to sudden noises and movements, but fear not, gentle pets from kiddos are well-received!  I like little ones but I would do best if my furever home had kids who are at least school-aged. As the sun rises on cold mornings, I confess—I get a bit stiff in my joints. But let's face it, don't we all? The good news is, no medical concerns here past my anxiety. I'm a healthy, usually happy pup ready to embark on adventures with a companion who appreciates a dash of canine quirkiness. So, if you're someone patient, understanding, and loves a good cuddle, swipe right! Let's create a love story filled with pawprints, laughter, and cozy moments. Can't wait to meet you and share the journey of life's adventures together!   S'mores is located in Omaha.  Interested adopters will need to travel to Omaha with all two and four legged family members to meet her.  Her adoption fee is set at $350 --Updated as of 6/9/24: S'mores tried out a home with a single guy and no other animals and decided she needs someone who is home more than he was able to be.  She's currently on prozac to help take the edge off of her anxiety as well as Calming Care.  We're hoping she can wean off once she finally settles into her furever home but it may just be something she needs to be successful.  S'mores loves hanging out in her crate and tends to prefer a quiet environment. She seems unbothered by other animals currently. If around a playful dog, she's very tolerant, but will give a quick correction when she's at her limit. She doesn't hold a grudge and just be-bops along as if nothing happened. She loves the comfort of furniture and will be sure to leave her slobbery mark. She's got a bit of a jelly nose when it comes to attention. If another dog is getting attention, she wants in. We are still working on potty training as outside is scary for her--like many dogs who were used for breeding, S'mores has a tendency to mark/urinate in her bed/blanket. She startles easily and is still getting comfortable with outside being a positive place. Leashes are really hard for her. Once she's on the leash she's OK.but currently she would fair better if she had a home where going outside didn't require a leash. She did encounter a toddler and was perfect, but as with all little ones I'd highly recommend supervision.  Her current foster works from home which is absolutely ideal in S'mores opinion! ##1952564##

Story
Kawasaki is 7 years old, I got her from the omaha humane society 3 months ago, was told she was great with cats, bring her home, and for the past 3 months I've paid for behavior classes, tried advice from friends, nothing works, she loves to chase my cats, not necessarily aggressive, but anytime she sees ones of them, she has to chase them. And I'm afraid one of these times my cats are going to get hurt. It breaks my heart to rehome her but for the safety of my cats, it needs to happen. She is FANTASTIC with other dogs of any size and gender, and great with kids of all ages. She is literally the perfect dog, except with cats. She has a fear of kennels as well from what I assume is from abuse and over breeding at previous home. She would make the perfect family dog as long as you don't have cats. Please find it in your heart to take in Kawasaki and love her forever. She's so gentle with absolutely everything besides cats. Thank you!

She’s a big girl who thinks she’s the size of a chihuahua. She gets along with just about anybody and loves to play, but equally loves sleeping and farting on your furniture. Gracie is a bossy girl and will always let you know how she is feeling, when she needs to go potty and when she demands attention. We don’t know much about her past due to being such a short notice surrender, she has lived in a foster home with 2 children under 10, many cats and other dogs with no issues. She sleeps well in her kennel, but also has no problem being left out overnight. Gracie is the happiest potato and absolutely loves life. She has no clue about her size and doesn't have any idea why she cannot be held like a baby, or sit on your lap. She is also a champion cuddler with dogs and humans alike. She will do best in a home experienced with her breed just due to nutrition, vet care, and activity constraints.  http://www.highplainspaw.org https://www.facebook.com/HighPlainsPAW : https://www.facebook.com/groups/836373273962895/?ref=share https://www.highplainspaw.org/adoption-application   https://www.highplainspaw.org/foster-application highplainspaw@gmail.com (402)957-1578  . .   means, altered, up to date on vaccines, HW tested if applicable and on flea/tick preventative (chemical or natural, aka no buggies)    , . Sarge is Mister Mellow Yellow--unless he thinks he needs more food!  He's good with kids and has pretty much ignored other dogs when at events, etc. His fosters don't have a resident dog, so we're not sure how he would do long term. Sarge seems like he wants to play with our neighbor's dogs behind the fence. He likes to walk and does well on a leash which is great as he continues his summer beach bod diet. He's fully potty trained and hasn't had one accident in the house. Overall, Sarge is a super-chill fella who just loves to cuddle all day long.  Beyond standard bulldog allergies/wrinkle maintenance, Sarge has no known medical issues. ##2032877##

Story
Clementine  This sweet girl had owners, they make her have litter after litter of puppies to sell, but they are were her family and she loved them, after all that's all she knew and love is what she does. Unfortunately because her owners suck, she ended up pregnant by a pitty mix. So not wanting to deal with feeding her and her mixed pups they drove her, super pregnant, out to the middle of nowhere and dumped her to die. A rescue contact was alerted to a dumped dog and drove out to find the poor soul. What she found was  an exhausted, heartbroken, emaciated and extremely pregnant girl. She was dumped in the desert with no shelter, no water, nothing but desert for miles on a back road rarely traveled. Thank goodness she was found as she was extremely anemic. The vet was very concerned about her whelping and with good reason. She ended up delivering 2 and the rest were born via emergency c section. Unfortunately the runt soon passed but the other 6 pups have absolutely thrived.   Clementine is literally the sweetest girl. She's like butter, she just melts into you. All she wants is love and to love unconditionally in return. She adores everyone she meets, she is just so thankful to be safe and not hungry and get the chance to raise these babies. It's like she knows this will be her last litter and she is just enjoying it and thankful that she knows for the first time that these babies are going to safe and loving homes. She knows she is safe and truly loved.   We are so exited and honored to be able to find her the most amazing home possible. If you believe that home is with you please contact us asap! We cannot wait to get the new chapter in her story started and show her the life she should have been living this whole time.   To Contact Us Message us through our website http://www.highplainspaw.org Message the Facebook Page at https://www.facebook.com/HighPlainsPAW Join and contact us through our FOSTER GROUP: https://www.facebook.com/groups/836373273962895/?ref=share Fill out our Adoption Application at https://www.highplainspaw.org/adoption-application Fill out our Foster Application at  https://www.highplainspaw.org/foster-application Email us at highplainspaw@gmail.com Call our VOICEMAIL at (402)957-1578 Fully vetted means, altered, up to date on vaccines, HW tested if applicable and on flea/tick preventative (chemical or natural, aka sans buggies)    WE DO NOT HAVE A FACILITY ALL OUR DOGS ARE LOCATED IN FOSTER HOMES.
