Story
(08/05/2012) If you are looking for a well-mannered paw-fect senior pair, these two are truly a daily gift. Meet Sandy and Shadow! They remind me daily to enjoy the life I have been given and to do it with them This potty-trained duo are mature, loveble, intelligent, and happy friends who have lived together for years. They are ready to devote their best years to a fantastic family! Whether yal are retired, have children over 8 years old or work full time Shadow & Sandy are the right for anyone interested in sharing their daily life with this special canine pair. They do love children!  Sandy, the taller of the two woman’s and /or man’s best friends, appears to be about 7-8 yy. Shadow, predominantly a short black and white cutie, is perhaps 10 yy. They are known to be healthy overall, have been fully vetted, enjoy walks under our beautiful NC skies, enjoy a car ride, and know how to use a dog door. They also would say “Yes” to…a fenced yard.   If you seek these pastimes: cuddling, watching pooches twist in delight when booties are scratched, relish in the pleasure of a relaxing afternoon in bed when it is raining or snowing, being the recipient of pooch smooches, and look forward to playing with stuffies, look no further! PS. – If you usually ride shotgun, you may have competition or… a guest on your lap.  As part of Sandy & Shadow's bonded $400 (for both) adoption fee, they arebe spayed/neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet little girl and boy,  you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Sandy and Shadow, you can fill in an online application for them under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org.   ##1811009##

Story
(DOB 06/17/2022) If going for a peaceful walk (he walks great on a leash) and then relaxing at home is your idea of a great way to spend your day, Grayson is your guy. He’s the perfect combination of playful and chill. After a good walk and some mild play in the back yard, he’s ready to lay on the couch and be with his humans. His greatest joy is to just be near those he loves, leaning into your legs when sitting on the floor or next to you to you on the couch. Grayson is a gentle and extremely sweet boy.  He’s a very gentle dog who listens well and learns fairly quickly, especially if treats are involved. Grayson needs his forever human to spoil him! So do you want a more chill dog; one that doesn't have all of that still "crazy puppy energgy"? Well, here you go, because Grayson isn't trying to win any frisbee contests! He will; however, win first-place in snuggling every time! He has been good with children, other dogs, and cats in his foster home. His playtime w/his 4-legged foster siblings can be a bit rough and tumble at times, so best to have him with dogs his size and strength. He is a little on the shy side with strangers, but warms up quickly. We are seeing his wonderful personality emerge. He can be a little skittish when it’s really noisy or too many people are jumping or running around, so he would probably do best in a calmer home. If children are in the home, he would likely do best with older children who are dog experienced due to his size. Grayson, even though super sweet and affectionate, we don't think he is the perfect match for a 1st time dog person. He could still use someone who is confident and help guide him through new life experiences. Grayson wants a wonderful secure 5ft+ fenced in back yard. He has been found diging some holes at times (ooops, sometimes ya just gotta be a dog-dog!!) Grayson says, no dog parks for him; just not his jam. Grayson is house-trained and crate trained. He sleeps through the night. He has some resource guarding of food with other dogs, so is fed separately, in crate. He does not resource guard food or other things with humans.  If you’re looking for a sweet, tender-hearted dog to add to your family, Grayson checks a lot of great boxes with the potential to check them all. He has beautiful brindle markings that sparkle in the sun and his big brown eyes will melt your heart. He is ready to begin sharing his love with you!! As part of Grayson's $300 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Grayson, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##1708175##

Story
(02/26/2022) Franky is the sweetest boy EVER!!  Franky really loves his humans = a bit of a velcro pup for sure! His foster mom absolutely loves him and thinks he is just a pleasure and so easy to love. Franky has the best smile and his eyes squint in the sun...it's adorable. Frankly absolutely loves being outside in the fenced back yard. He would really, really love one in his fur-ever home. He looks forward to being outside numerous times throughout the day on leash (front yard, brief walks) and off leash (fenced backyard). He loves exploring, running, sunning and playing in the backyard, especially when one of his doggie friends join him. He is also happy just laying around outside and taking a bit of a sun bath. He hasn't mastered walking on a leash, so a family that has some members that are patient and can handle a strong pup on leash until he learns this and it becomes a routine for him.  Franky loves food related enrichment!! Any kind of enrichment toy that involves food is his favorite (kongs, lick mats, bento treat balls, etc.). He will occasionally chew on nylabones and that kind of thing. He also loves chew toys. Franky is food/treat motivated, so a very good way to continue fun training activities with him. He's easily redirected and eager to please is humans. Franky is already crate and house trained. "I’ve never met a better crate trained dog." Franky is happy to go night-night in his crate and be snuggled up and happy until the morning. So far, it seems like Frankly likes submissive dogs about his size. How the other dog reacts to him usually dictates the outcome. That being said, he is definitely interested in being social with our other dogs. They just need the proper introduction. So he could be in a home with other dogs or as an only dog with humans that would love and dote on him. Franky doesn’t have to have children in the home, but if there are then they should be sturdy and/or older because of his energy level. Plus, he still a little nippy and mouthy. He does have some anxiety and is currently on Trazadone and he is perfectly fine.  As part of Franky's $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Franky, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2002260##

Story
(DOB 3/2/24). Mater is devilishly handsome and he knows it.  He is full of charisma too.  Great looks and a great personality make for one awesome puppy.  He is a puppy, though, so he has lots of puppy energy and puppy shenanigans and is looking for a home that can help him grow into a polite young lad.  He is also looking for a big fur brother or fur sister to teach him how to be a good boy and maybe join him in some hijinx. His favorite activities include sleeping, playing, eating, and repeating ... with lots of potty breaks in between.  He is just starting his house training journey as he just started going outside so he will need a loving family willing to help him be successful.  He wants to please you and is treat motivated so he will likely catch on quickly.   As part of Mater’s $325 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Mater, you can fill in anonline application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2050305##

Story
(05/06/2018) Doc is HW positive and our rescue is treating him, so he will need to be adopted within 1 hour of Wake Forest, NC until his treatment is complete. Don't let that stop you from meeting this sweet, loveable boy. Doc is ready for an amzing home with people who can give him love and compassion, and then you will reap all of the rewards from this eager to please boy. Doc loves to be around his people. He does take a minute to warm up to strangers, but that isn't all that uncommon with dogs that are a little on the shyer side. But once he warms up to you, he's just loveable.  He's sweet and pass the wild puppy or adolescent years, and he likes to just chill all day. He will probably do best in a family that is fairly chill, too. He can easily be in an apartment or a single family home/townhouse. He just likes to be around someone (person or dog). He spends a lot of time just lounging with his toys in his dog bed or laying with his dog siblings. He sleeps in his crate or on his dog bed. Speaking of other dogs, Doc would be happy with another dog in the home to be his bestie, but he could also be an only dog as well. Doc has not met kitties yet so we don't know about that. The only time Doc really gets really excitable is meal time. He is always happy to chomp on down on his breakfast or dinner. He is very excited about meal time for sure. He has never shown an ounce of aggression or even a little growl; just a pretty docile boy. He is still a bit of a flight risk so his family should know to keep him safe on a leash or a solid fenced yard. NOTE, he does not require a fenced yard in his forever home. He is really happy just hanging out with his peeps and pups!! As part of Doc’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Doc, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2050487##

Story
(06/04/2020) Pepper is heartworm positive and our rescue is treating her; she will be available for local adoption (1 hour drive from Wake Forest, NC) while she is in treatment. Pepper loves to be by your side and doesn't really think being alone is cool. So much so, bathroom privacy doesn't even mean much to her. She'll be happy to scratch at the closed door notifying you of your accidental error in judgement.  Pepper would be fine as an only dog or to fill out a household with other friendly pups to be her siblings. She would definitely do best in a home and not an apartment, condo or townhome...those shared walls may hear her beautiful bark more often than they may like. She actually spends most of her day relaxing in her foster mom's office, sleeping or chewing on an antler or yak chew. Despite Pepper's heartworm treatment, she occasionally gets the zoomies when going outside, indicating she will enjoy some playful activity in the future. In the meantime, she is kept entertained with sniff mats, lick pads, and chews to keep her calm and happy. Speaking of chewing, Pepper is more like "gumming it"; her cute smile and speckled tongue have a handful of teeth. Because of this soft food is better for her. This shiny black onyx of a girl is good with all dogs, kiddos and kitties!! She has that easy-loveable personality. She is already house trained, crate trained, good walking on a leash, loves car rides and the list goes on. No fence; no worries...Pepper is happy to hang with her people and be a bit of a couch potato! What more could you really ask for? Her deep appreciation for her human makes you feel truly cherished. She will only ask for the same devotion and affection for her in return. She does have some seperation anxiety and being with her people really makes her happy. You can expect some initial barking when she is left in her crate, so someone who is home a good amont of the time is best for Pepper. She is happy to sleep on her bed or snuggled up in bed with you, so that's a great option. Pepper has some cute wrinkles that make her extra cute. She is new to our rescue and is being treated for some skin condition. She is doing well and her beautiful black, furry body is filling in nicely. We are currently checking on her spay status and she will be spayed before adoption. She is going to be such an amazing companion - her foster mom just loves her dearly! As part of Pepper’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Pepper, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2118344##
