Story
Meet Monty, a handsome 3 year old pup that’s on the hunt for his new home! This sweet and sensitive boy is on the shyer side, and takes a while to get used to new people and environments. He’s likely to be a bit of a homebody to start, and will thrive in a quiet home where he can decompress and adjust at his own pace. Once he warms up to his people, Monty is an absolute love, and will be a wonderful addition to a patient and caring home! Monty is also a certified chew toy fiend, and would love to have lots of toys and enrichment to work on in the home!Monty could go home with kids that can help support him in the home by letting him have space when he needs some alone time. He has been more selective with his dog friends at the shelter, but might like to go home with a well-matched, confident dog that won’t be bothered while Monty practices his dog skills. He hasn’t lived with cats before, but may be able to go home with a dog-savvy cat companion with a slow introduction. If you think this dog could be a good match for your home and would like to learn more, stop by our Cape Cod Adoption Center. We have open adoption hours Tuesday-Sunday from 1pm-4pm – no appointment needed to speak to a staff person regarding available dogs. Please note, in an effort to keep the stress levels reduced for the dogs in our care, our dog kennel areas will not be open to walk through. Interested adopters will work with a matchmaker on staff to determine which dog(s) theyre interested in – and if we can identify a match, potential adopters will be able to meet those dogs outside of the kennel. Cat and small animal areas will remain open to walk through.

Story
Huey is a playful and lovable hound mix who’s working on growing his confidence and learning that the great indoors isn’t so scary after all! He’s sweet, sensitive, and happiest when he’s got a confident dog friend by his side. Since he grew up without much exposure to home life, he’s still figuring out things like leashes, doorways, and that the vacuum isn’t a monster. With a little patience and a lot of treats (preferably peanut butter biscuits!), Huey will blossom into the loyal companion he’s meant to be. If you’ve got a quiet home, a friendly dog, and a heart big enough for a gentle soul like Huey, he’s ready to learn what love is all about!

Story
Sweet, snuggly, and full of love, Odessa is looking for a patient and understanding home where she can truly thrive. She’s had a rough past, so big changes will be challenging for her. Adjusting to new routines—like going outside, meeting new people, and sharing space with other pets—will take time, patience, and thoughtful planning. But with the right guidance, she has so much love to give! Odessa may do well with a well-matched dog companion with the right management. If you’re willing to help her build confidence and feel safe, she’ll reward you with endless cuddles and devotion.

Story
Our Gorgeous Coco is a cool blast of fresh air! She was found as a city stray in Staten Island, NY, and brought by Animal Control Officers to NYCACC. When no owner came forward, she was transferred to our Connecticut Rescue. We believe Coco is primarily a Red Tick Coonhound. She is a large athletic girl, at 48 pounds, strong enough to overwhelm some folks. Her breed is largely a gangly Scent Hound, so, her ideal adopter would be an active single or couple, who can include Coco on hikes, runs, power walks, camping, or any kind of vigorous activity that will challenge mind and body. Coco would do well with experienced, confident dog owners, who understand the importance of ongoing discipline and obedience work, and are willing to continue her on her path to Canine Good Citizenship. She's almost there! We have had a blast with Coco. We've taken her hiking and swimming, and have polished her commands and manners. She really thrives in the outdoors, and has a delightful, impish, playful vibe. Coco is extremely affectionate and revels in any human contact. The more action and exercise that she gets, the better. She is not a dog who will be happily relegated to the backyard, and ignored. We think that Coco could join a multi-dog home if the chemistry is right, and the home has some structure. A busy family with lots of kids, and high energy dogs coming and going, is too chaotic a lifestyle for her to process. She would thrive in a calmer, disciplined environment where she can be front and center, and benefit from her adopter's laser focus. Coco has done well with some dogs and not well with others. She has an Alpha personality, and engages in vigourous play, which may be too much for some dogs. She's not the type to back down from confrontation with a high energy, ill-mannered dog, and she has not particularly liked our personal gaggle of yappy, ankle biters.  On the other hand, she has been friendly to some of our more sociable Rescue dogs. We would need to do a proper dog introduction to assess chemistry at the adoption meeting. We haven't had Coco around cats, but she would likely chase them beyond their comfort level. Coco's house manners are good, but she still has an older puppy vibe, and may need a correction or two about jumping up on Strangers. She is house trained and crate trained, although Adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during her transition to a new home. She is in optimal health, and at an ideal lean body weight of 48 pounds. Coco has been spayed and has received routine vaccinations and health screenings. She has been dewormed, and microchipped.  If you are interested in Coco, please write to Angelsfrgod@aol.com or call/text Denise at 860-908-9738 for more info.
