Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. MYRTLE was saved from being shot on the streets of Oman by an amazing organization Muscat Dog Adoption. She along with her 7 friends were flown into JFK where they were cleared the CDC and then picked up and transported back to Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine on 5 April 2024 Myrtle is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and is microchipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 2 July 2022 and at the time of transport weighed around 30 pounds. Mixed breed dogs in Oman are referred to as Omani Wadi Dogs, with most of them being Saluki mixes. Myrtle is a sweet, gentle, affectionate girl who weighs just 30 pounds but do not let her slight frame fool you. When she is familiar in her surroundings, she is confident and loves to keep her fellow Omani kennel mates in check. She is very loving and takes treats very gently after she has checked it out for 10 minutes to be sure you are not trying to poison her lol. She is good with other dogs, but can be choosy who she wants to share with, not in an aggressive way at all but she knows who she wants to be friends. She is smart, loving affectionate and will need an active life and a family that understands the need of the sighthound and be able to provide the lifestyle that she needs and deserves. We take a lot of pictures and videos and don't always have the time to post them on the dogs individual webpage and adoption site, so we ask that you go to the rescue    YouTube channel    and    photo albums on our Facebook page   to see a LOT of pictures and videos. We are looking for families that have the lifestyle that the dog needs to lead a healthy, both mentally and physically life, who can afford a GOOD quality food, toys and treats and understand the importance of veterinary wellness checks. Myrtle is located at the rescue in Sebec Maine and is available for a reduced adoption fee of $150. Interested families are required to complete our application process and once approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Our process takes 1-2 days as long as we are able to talk to references, so be prepared to be approved (hopefully) to adopt within a few days of submitting the adoption application. https://giveadogahome-rescue.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=5838 HOUSE TRAINED - All of our dogs are located in the kennel building so we are not able to say if a dog is house-trained, however, they do have access and use the dog door to access their run, play area 24/7. FOOD - We feed a variety of high quality brands and flavors including, chicken, turkey, beef, lamb and fish generally alternated daily. CATS - As the dogs are in the kennels, we are not able to say how they are with cats. She along with her 7 friends were flown into JFK where they were cleared the CDC and then picked up and transported back to Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine on 5 April 2024 Bellatrix is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and is microchipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 7 February 2022 and at the time of transport weighed around 33 pounds. Mixed breed dogs in Oman are referred to as Omani Wadi Dogs, with most of them being Saluki mixes Bellatrix is a sweet, gentle, fragile girl, but one that takes no pushing around from the other dogs. She shares a kennel with Alma-Boy and Chip a young cattle dog pup and she keeps them in check. She likes to bark with the other dogs letting them know that she is in charge, she is adorable. She is gentle and sweet and although good with other dogs she can be a bit choosy of who she wants to share company with. Bellatrix is very affectionate and would be a great snuggle companion. Like the sighthound breeds, she is active, but it is more in burst of energy, she will definitely need someone who can give her that chance to run and burn off and to play with the dogs she wants to be friends with. Story
🐾 Meet Bella: The Tiny Dynamo with a Heart of Gold! 🐾 Say hello to Bella, a sweet and spunky Pug / Italian Greyhound mix (probably has some Chi and other mutt-mixes!) with a zest for life and a heart as big as her personality! At nine years young, Bella’s looking for her forever home where she can share her endless love and infectious energy. We're guessing but her temperament, ears, graceful paws and facial shading makes us guess she's got some Italian Greyhound or maybe some whippet or pug or chihuahua in her.. she's just super special! Bella’s Background: Bella’s story is a tale of love and resilience. Her dad, who had her since she was a pup, became homeless and made the heartbreaking decision to surrender her so she wouldn’t have to live outdoors. Despite the tough transition, Bella’s adjusting wonderfully and is ready to find her new family. Why You’ll Love Bella: * Friendly & Snuggly: Bella’s the ultimate cuddle bug and loves being around people. She’s great with kids, cats, and other dogs, making her the perfect addition to any family. * Independent Streak: While Bella loves affection, she’s got a touch of independence too. She’ll dance on her hind legs like a little acrobat to make sure you’re paying attention! * Low Maintenance: Bella doesn’t have separation anxieties and tolerates her crate overnight, especially with a bit of positive reinforcement. * Responds to Her Name: Call her name, and Bella comes running with a curious head tilt as if asking, “Whacha got for me?!” * Circus Dog Potential: At nine years old, she’s still spry and loves to perform her signature dance on her hind legs. She’s the perfect mix of chill cuddle buddy and playful companion. * Quiet as a Mouse: Bella rarely barks, even when the doorbell rings. She’s a housetrained little lady, though she might need a confidence boost in a new environment. * Treat Hider Extraordinaire: Give her a slightly oversized treat, and Bella will find the perfect hiding spot to save it for later—even if “later” is just five minutes away. * Kiss Master: Bella’s a pro at giving kisses, especially when she’s getting to know you. She’s a tolerant little gal who handles baths, grooming, and teeth brushing like a champ because she knows treats are coming her way. A Few Health Notes: Bella has a mild heart murmur and a mast cell tumor (MCT) that’s inoperable, but don’t tell her that—she’s blissfully unaware and continues to be her energetic self! She’s looking for compassionate parents who’ll love her and care for her through thick and thin. Bella’s Ideal Family: At 16 lbs of lean, long-legged cuteness, Bella’s looking for a family who’ll cherish her despite her health conditions. She’s got BIG dark eyes and a sleek little nose that’ll melt your heart. Can you provide the loving home she deserves? Bella’s waiting to shower you with all the love and affection she has to give! Ready to welcome this tiny dynamo into your home? Come meet Bella today and discover the joy of adopting a senior sweetheart! 🐶❤️ -------------------------------------------- If you are interested in finding out more about Bella - please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: http://bit.ly/2JnZqK5 Bella is being fostered in Boston. The adoption fee is $150. Like Broken Tail Rescue on Facebook!. Follow Broken Tail Rescue on Instagram! Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.
