Meet Fergus! A whip smart, gentle and sweet Border Collie. He's very treat motivated, sits nicely and is extremely gentle when taking treats. He's happy go lucky and wants to meet everyone he passes. On a recent walk with one of our amazing volunteers, he was introduced to young kids. He sat patiently for them and was comfortable receiving pets all over from them! He loves other dogs, and plays well in small groups. He can be dominant and assertive with other males, but gets along wonderfully with female dogs, and lives and plays well with his foster's resident female dog. He'd be an excellent match for owners who have some previous dog experience, as he is still working on his perfect house manners, and experiencing new things. He tends to shy away when he's unsure, but we'd recommend a home with older children or adults only who are able to respect his boundaries and work with him. His fosters report he's relatively mellow for a Collie, he loves his walks and hikes but isn't super energetic - he'll happily snuggle up with you on the couch in the evening!
