Story
Lala and her daughter Marnie both just got their first injection for heartworms a couple days ago! We have gone through this process quite a few times now, but Lala’s case has had us taking a few more precautions. We took a trip up to Southeast Vet Oncology to take closer look at Lala’s heart, as we knew her heartworms were more severe. We found that Lala’s heart is somewhat enlarged, and on scans you can see LITERAL worms living in her heart. On top of this Lala has two mass cell tumors that need removed and she needs a dental so badly that her gums bleed from irritation. Anesthesia is dangerous for a dog with heartworms, especially with the burden Lala has, so we are working to get this nasty worms out first. While Lala does have some permanent damage, there is no reason to believe that Lala will not live a long and happy live once her treatment is completed. We are taking her heartworm recovery extra seriously, and are desperately looking for a foster for her so she can recover in the comforts of a home like she deserves. With all of Lala’s medical, you would truly have no idea there is a single thing going on with her. She is SO happy and silly, she has ZERO physical symptoms like she should have. She is all hippo body wiggles, tiny toof smiles, and sassy personality. Lala has spent multiple days at two different vets getting lots of testing and when we picked her up the whole staff from both vets literally couldn’t stop talking about how amazing she is! We aren’t exaggerating either, trust us, meet her once and you’ll get it. To know Lala or Marnie is to have a happier heart. We are so thrilled to be able to walk these girls, and all our Swampies, through everything they need to be their happiest and healthiest selves.
