Peep petite Penelope who is purely pining for a person to please! Penelope was found as an abandoned dog in the heat and brought to the shelter, where she has won over the hearts of volunteers and staff friends! She seems to be housebroken, pretty low energy, and snorts like a little piggie! Penelope is now available for foster and adoption at ACCT Philly. You can meet her any day from 10am-6pm. Interested fosters should email foster@acctphilly.org. Behavior: Per Volunteer 8/16/24: Penelope was sleeping when I approached but I was able to coax her to the front of her kennel with treats. She is a Quiet girl who appears postpartum or pregnant. She went potty right away (housebroken?). Once outside, she was affectionate practically melting into my lap. She looks up at you with the softest eyes and most beautiful face! She is a total low rider and breaths like a little piggy. It's so adorable! Penelope followed me around the play yard like glue. Not interested in balls or playing. A bit snatchy with treats. An amazing, sweet wee pup! BEHAVIOR EVALUATION 8/14/24: KNOWN HISTORY: Stray, had emergency spay surgery on 8/14 KENNEL PRESENTATION: Penelope was in a top sidebank when approaching. She had a neutral body and soft eyes and took a treat through the bars gently. She was very easy to leash and patient. She allowed the handler to pick her up to lift her out of kennel. No issues exiting or returning. LEASH SKILLS: Didn't pull much, but was nervous in the kennels HANDLING: Penelope was friendly in the room with all handlers and was social and tolerant with us. She explored the room with soft wide eyes and a neutral body. She allowed all handling from us and was very tolerant! She did not display any handling sensitivities while out and leaned in for booty scratches. She is VERY food motivated but quite snatchy with treats so use an open palm or toss them! PLAY: No interest TOYS: Interest but no possession ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia. We are open for adoptions 7 days a week.
