Small Dog Rescue of New England Inc.

Dog rescue in Cranston, RI

Small Dog Rescue of New England is a non-profit all-volunteer organization. It was established by a small group of individuals in the New England area with the intent of helping small dogs find loving forever homes. We rescue, vet and transport Southern Kill Shelter Dogs to the Northeast.

Small Dog Rescue of New England relies on donations, fund-raising activities and adoption fees for its income. We do not receive any state or federal funds. All donations directly benefit the dogs in our adoption program. We are a 501c3 organization, so your donations are tax deductible. We are always in need of donations and committed volunteers like ourselves.

We are recruiting fosters in Rhode Island, please fill out the foster application on our website.

Additional adoption info

We are committed to matching you with the right dog so that all will have many happy years together.
Please fill out an application on our website smalldogrescuene.org Please be sure to fill out the entire application or it will not go through. If you are serious about adopting, please put down a refundable deposit (unless you change your mind) of $50. This can be done on our website too under our donate button. Once we receive your deposit, we will get the adoption process started.

The Adoption Manager will call you to go over the adoption process and answer questions you may have. We will then check references and conduct a home visit when possible.

All of our rescue dogs are in private volunteer foster homes. We do not have a central shelter or kennel location. Our volunteer fosters are most qualified to answer any questions regarding the dog, if the dog is local, the fosters email address will be in the dogs bio. To protect our foster families' privacy, we must have an application on file before we will set-up a meet & greet. We may receive several applications for one dog and we do our best to keep our site up to date with available dogs. Please be patient as we are all volunteers. Please note that an approved application DOES NOT guarantee that the dog will be placed with you. The final decision rests with our fosters as they know the dogs the best, and please be aware that there may be other applicants interested in the same dog.

We reserve the right to refuse an applicant based on the information provided, as well as the results of the application process, with or without disclosure of cause. We do not adopt out small dogs to homes with children under 8 - 10 years old. Fenced in yards are preferable. Each adoption is based on the best home for the dog.

Our Adoption donations cover: vetting, transporting, feeding, and caring for all the dogs in our program.

Thank you for your interest in rescue. Adopt don’t shop!
