SHINGILANA RESCUED FELINES

Cat rescue in Germantown, MD

We are a group of individuals dedicated to relocating abandoned and stray shelter cats into loving, forever homes. We are proud of offerring sweet, friendly, vetted felines who have been evaluated for health and temperament in our foster homes. Unless otherwise stated, all cats are in good health, felv/fiv neg, and spayed or neutered. We look forward to the day when there will be No More Homeless Pets...and we hope to make this happen, one cat at a time. We offer some purebreds such as Himalayans, Persians, Balinese, and Maine Coons when available, as well as a "Whitman's Sampler" of wonderful mixed breeds. We hope you will want to come meet our great Little Lions!

Rescue FAQs

Most of our adoptions are local - in the Montgomery County, Md and nearby areas. We consider parts of PA, DC, and VA to be within adoption distance and are happy to help w delivery to local areas.

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process involves a visit w/the cat or cats, an application w/references, contract, and donation. We do NOT ship cats, so if you are outside of driving distance, then hope you find the cat you are seeking closer to your home! We appreciate your patience in working with us to make sure the cat you are interested in is the best cat for your home, and do not rush the application process. Our working goal is to get back to applicants within 24-48 hours to let them know our decision. Adoption donations are necessary to help cover costs of getting animals ready for their new home: vet care -- which can involve testing, spaying or neutering, Rabies vaccination, and in various cases essential lifesaving surgeries that have had to be performed; microchipping + registration; providing them with quality nutrition and loving care during their stay w us; and other necessities such as litter + overhead must be taken into consideration as well. Requested donations range between $90-120 for a mixed breed and between $120-150 for a purebred, w some exceptions falling into undefined areas. Please contact a veterinarian in advance of your visit to decide which one you will be using for a new kitty, and ask about the costs of cat care - to be prepared for whatever commitment is necessary. We take very seriously the placement of our animals in good homes, and hope they will be taken care of with love, compassion, and good nutrition, for the remainder of their days! In addition, we provide adoption counseling before the new kitty goes home, to help ease the transition for everyone; and are available for any questions/problems for duration of Kitty's 9 Lives! Homes we look for are patient and willing to work thru the process of finding the right cat, learning how to maintain his/her wellbeing, and able to commit to responsible care for their new Feline Friend, for the remainder of his/her life. We thank you; the cats thank you; for being able to give them the chance they deserve -- they just want someone to love, and a bed to call their own! Maybe that bed will be right in Your very own home...so please come meet our wonderful rescued felines soon. Thank you!
