Love For Pugs Rescue, A NJ Nonprofit Corporation

Dog rescue in Middlesex, NJ

I have personally been a pug lover for years. My first pug, Honey (RIP) was a retired backyard breeder and it just broke my heart. From then on I started volunteering with pug rescue groups.

In September 2011 I received an urgent foster request from a rescue I was affiliated with. He was found tied to a pole in a parking lot. When I got him he was extremely aggressive, I almost returned him, and I would never do that. I continued to stick it out, it turns out that this pug, Eddy, was severely physically, emotionally and sexually abused. He did not know how to love. It took a lot of work and patience, but I have to tell you that now he is the most loving, gentle dog there could be. He IS the perfect pug.

The rescue I was affiliated with is located in NYC and decided to keep their foster homes located in NY so they are close to their vet.

Central Jersey did not have their own pug rescue, I got laid off of my job, so it was the perfect opportunity to get my rescue started!! This rescue is dedicated to the legacy of Honey and Eddy.

Rescue FAQs

Love For Pugs Rescue (LFPR) was officially formed in 2012. We are an all-volunteer, not for profit organization dedicated to pugs. LFPR will take any and all pugs regardless of age, health and/or temperament. We will also take pug mixes on a room available basis.

All pugs are placed in foster care with dedicated volunteers. Evaluation and veterinary care include: vaccinations, spaying/neutering and treatment for any known illnesses. Donations are always graciously accepted and greatly appreciated!!)

We also assist many pug owners who need to surrender their precious pugs for various reasons. We will gladly send updates on the pug after placement, if requested by the original owner.

Additional adoption info

To be considered for addoption, you must fill out our application (link on our website) and return it to us (either my e-mail or regular mail), along with the $25.00 application fee (which can be paid via paypal or by check or money order). If approved, the application fee will be deducted from the adoption fee. It is strongly suggested that you submit an application for pre-approval of any pug that may come in that suits you and your family. Our pugs are not adopted on a first-come, first-served basis, all applicants go through a thorough screening process, including reference checks and home inspections.

Adoption fees range from $100-$400, depending on age, medical condition, etc.
