X-Mutts Animal rescue in Valley Springs, CA

X-Mutts is the rescue and re-homing effort that grew out of Central California Pets Alive, a grassroots advocacy effort to reform Stockton Animal Services.

We are not a 501(c)3 organization, though we work with several rescues. Our advocacy has led us to rescue animals from Stockton Animal Services and strays. We also sometimes feature "courtesy posts"--for information, contact xmutts@gmail.com

Rescue FAQs

Animals listed here are either rescued from the Stockton, California pound or from the streets of Stockton and San Joaquin Counties, or are listed for re-homing to prevent their being surrendered to the Stockton pound. I have transported dogs from the central valley to the Bay Area, northern California, and Washington.

Additional adoption info

The adoption process involves a phone or email screening and home visit. Adoption fees of $100-350 cover neuter, vaccinations and other veterinary care, and sometimes boarding. The adoption contract is a very basic document outlining that the new owner will provide all needed care and that if the owner is ever unable to care for the animal, she/he will not be surrendered to a pound, and that I will take him/her back or help re-home that pet.
