Pioneers for Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), Inc., is a 501(c)(3) not for profit, all volunteer NYS corporation which has been operating on Long Island for 40 years. We are working to create a better welfare system for all the animals in our communities. Over the years, we created, and continue to create, a number of valuable programs which serve to promote our mission to create respect for all animals, to educate individuals about animals, to help people keep their animals, and to provide assistance with the control of the animal population on Long Island. PAWS has many programs which are helpful in achieving our goals. Some of our programs include:

- Low-cost spay/neuter program
- Trap-Neuter-Return (“TNR”) Program
- Free spay/neuter program for felines
- Humane Education Program
- Animal care outreach
- Food pantries outreach
- Pet therapy program
- Senior animal placement program
- Financial Assistance Program
- Public Outreach Committee
- Seniors with Animals Project (SWAP)
