Warwick Valley Humane Society Animal shelter in Warwick, NY

The Warwick Valley Humane Society, Inc. (WVHS) is a not for profit corporation of the State of New York. Founded in 1954, we have operated the Warwick Animal Shelter since 1968.

Over 50% of our annual income is derived through fundraising. Fundraising events include Wine and Whiskers, 5K 4 Paws, Golf Outing, Rabies Clinics, Acupuncture Clinics and the Kitten Shower.

Our volunteer opportunities include Read to the Dogs, Cats or Rabbits, Running with Pits, Homeless Pet Clubs and much more.

Shelter FAQs

The WVHS provides Animal Control Services via contracts with the Towns of Warwick and Chester. Warwick is a 104 square mile town in Southern Orange County that includes the villages of Florida, Greenwood Lake and Pine Island. The town of Chester includes the well known craft village of Sugar Loaf. We contract with the town of Tuxedo as an impoundment facility.

Additional adoption info

We have an application process to try to make the best match for the pet and adopter.
The adoption donation for dogs is $260.00 and includes the local license.
The adoption donation for kittens is $125.00.
The adoption donation for adult cats is $100.00.
All pets are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, tested and dewormed prior to adoption.
