This CAT is a member of our Permanent Foster program, and is happily living in a foster home willing to care for her. If you would like to help with the cost of care for cats in this program, please consider becoming a 'godpurrent.' For as little as $25 per month, you can help provide veterinary care and food for a special needs cat. Donations can be made by regular mail or online using Paypal. https://www.fandfnm.org/become-a-godpurrent.html

HISTORY: This handsome cat was picked up by Animal Control in Los Lunas and found to be FIV+ (see ADDITIONAL INFORMATION below). Since time was running out for JONESY at the shelter, a rescue partner contacted F&F to give him a second chance.
TEMPERAMENT: JONESY is now looking for a new 'Permanent Foster' family who will give him a stable long-term home, while having his on-going medical needs looked after by F&F. His eyes bother him periodically, but he is feeling much better after adjusting his medication.
JONESY is a major snuggler, super sweetie, and all around true gentleman. His litter box manners are impeccable, he uses his scratching post, and best of all, has the sweetest, most gentle personality. He is a loyal companion!
JONESY is looking for a Santa Fe-based family that can monitor his health and administer his meds. His most recent foster mom was able to keep him medicated by crushing pills into his wet food, but he needs a caregiver that is comfortable pilling if needed. JONESY is a playful guy who would be happy as a solo kitty or sharing a home with other gentle cats.
AGE: born approx. 6/4/19
MICROCHIP #: 981020041515699
DATE OF STERILIZATION: 6/17/20
VAX RECORD: FVRCP expires: 2/6/25; Rabies expires: 4/15/25
FELV/FIV test: 7/6/20; FIV+
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: As is typical with many FIV+ cats, JONESY is expected to live a normal lifespan. While conventional thinking is to only place an FIV+ cat in a home with no other cats or with another FIV+ cat, there are many “mixed households.” According to Cornell University, the primary mode of Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) transmission is through repeated fights resulting in the exchange of blood, and it poses no threat to humans or other species. If you would like more information on FIV, educational materials can be requested by emailing adoptions@fandfnm.org.
