Felix I hate to admit it, but I am a certified nervous nelly. The character of Fear from the movie Inside Out perfectly describes who I am. Even though I am extremely good-looking, I can`t hide the fact that I am a wuss. I am 8-years and 7-months old, and I lived in my first home for seven years. My life became unbearable during the last three years when another cat and a dog were brought into the house. I DO NOT enjoy the company of other four-legged creatures. They make me nervous, anxious, and grief-stricken. So, I was surrendered in November 2023. The interviewer lady wrote my first story in December, making sure everyone knew I was a scaredy cat. I got adopted in January 2024, but I was surrendered again on 11-22-24. This owner said I was too anxious, loud noises like the vacuum cleaner scared me, I didn`t like being alone all day, and I wasn`t the right fit for her. So now I`m back at the HSHC with hurt feelings and a renewed fear of change. Here`s the thing; when I lived with my lady owner only, I was as happy as a clam. I didn`t have to deal with other animals or children. But when another cat and dog joined the family, I returned to my old, anxious self. Therefore, I want to clarify that a) I must be the only animal in the home, b) all humans must be 16 years or older, and c) I will require a patient owner who will give me all the time and space I need to feel safe and comfortable. I am very food-motivated; licky treats are my favorites. I love listening to jazz, sitting by a screened, open window, and playing with a string toy! Please consider making me your only animal roommate! 1-8-25

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.
This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
