My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Petunia: The Playful Pit Mix with a Heart of Gold! About Petunia: Petunia is a 2-year, 9-month-old, 62-pound bundle of love looking for a patient and experienced adopter to help her shine. Though she’s initially wary of new faces, once she trusts you, you’re in for a lifetime of snuggles, kisses, and fun! Why Petunia is Special: Smart & Obedient: Knows commands like sit, stay, crate, paw, and more. Cuddle Queen: Loves snuggling under blankets—cozy time is her favorite! Playful & Goofy: From backyard zoomies to conquering puzzle toys, she’ll keep you smiling. Healthy Eater: A fan of fruits and veggies as treats. A Day in the Life of Petunia: -Morning snacks of healthy fruits or veggies. -Backyard playtime, water splashing, or chasing balls. -Thriving on positive reinforcement and learning new things. -Relaxing evenings with snuggles and her favorite toys. Petunia’s Ideal Home: -Quiet & Calm: A serene environment to help her feel secure. -Adult-Only Household: Prefers a home without young kids. -Dog-Friendly: Loves other pups, especially calm male dogs. -Cat-Friendly: Gets along well with feline friends. -Experienced Adopter: Someone who understands her need for structure, routine, and slow introductions. -Yard Space: A place for her to play and enjoy zoomies. Additional Details: -Crate trained and housetrained. -Medium to high energy: Needs two walks a day plus yard play. -Thrives in a quiet household and loves to feel secure. Petunia isn’t just a dog; she’s a loyal companion waiting for the right person to help her reach her full potential. Could that be you? Go meet their pets

We are a rescue that is dependent on volunteers as we do not have a physical building. We rent space at a kennel in Upperco, Md. If you would like to meet one of our dogs please contact us to make arrangements. Thanks!

More about this rescue

Adopt a Homeless Animal Rescue (AAHA) is a nonprofit dedicated to rescuing and assisting animals in crisis. We actively combat animal cruelty in any form.

We have a particular commitment to pit bulls and aim to raise awareness about the breed, help those in need, and educate the public:
•We seek to promote this lovely yet unfairly maligned breed as the sweet, intelligent, affectionate, and people-oriented dogs they are.
•We assume stewardship over their well-being and strive to make this world a better place for them.
•We serve as a resource and/or liaison for shelters, individuals, and the community at large, advocating for any animal in harm's way.
•We also function in an advisory role for private citizens who seek assistance and guidance in better caring for their pets.

We are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Please help us help the animals!
