Meet Angelo, affectionately known as Jello! He's a 3-year old Border Collie mix who weighs 53 pounds. This high-energy, happy-go-lucky dog is looking for an active home where he can thrive. Jello is housetrained and crate trained, although he might fuss a bit before settling down in his crate.
Jello’s ideal day involves plenty of physical and mental stimulation beyond just running in the backyard or a simple walk. He absolutely loves hiking and swimming, making him the perfect adventure buddy. His love for play extends to other dogs as well. Jello gets along with dogs of all sizes but sometimes misses social cues, so a doggy companion who can set clear boundaries would be beneficial.
Due to his high energy, Jello is best suited for a home without cats and with children over the age of 8, as he might accidentally knock over smaller kids. He hasn't had much exposure to children, but his foster, a professional trainer, believes older kids would be a better fit. Jello enjoys toys, chews, car rides, and walks or runs.
His foster mom describes him as friendly, outgoing, confident, adaptable, and playful. While he is working on learning to settle down properly, pairing adequate exercise with chew toys has been helpful. His adopters should be prepared for some training as he is still young and exhibits typical herding breed behaviors, like being mouthy and jumping.
Jello’s ideal home would be with active individuals or families who love outdoor activities and can provide the exercise he needs. A doggy playmate isn't essential, but he would certainly enjoy the company. With time, patience, and consistent training, Jello will become a wonderful addition to his new family. If you’re looking for an enthusiastic, adventurous companion, Jello could be the perfect match for you!
His minimum adoption fee is $195 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents.
He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
