My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Haya! I'm Chonkers!

I have two modes, and I'm serious about both of them. More than anything, I love playing. One look into my eyes and you can see how (smart) and serious I am about playtime. I can make anything into a toy and, entertain myself for hours. Bottle caps, twist ties, cardboard tubes. The sillier, the better. My imagination takes over and they're all so much fun! Load up my puzzle toys and toss a ping pong ball for me to chase! They're my favorite thing!

I am almost always looking for fun, but when I get tired, I’ll curl up and nap (recharge) someplace near my foster brothers or parents. After a good rest, I'm bright eyed and ready for action. I don't want to be pet when playing and I’m not a super fan of surprise walk-by pettings. When humans are at their most peaceful. In bed, on the couch, at their work desk, you know. It's the perfect time to show them affection. You can see it in my eyes (and tail) when I'm ready for pets, and will come right to you. I'm going to insist we use this time for pets and cuddling with biscuits and purrs. Hope your hands are empty because I'm going to rub my face on them before burying it in that nice fleece blanket on your lap.

I was very sick when I was a tiny kitten, and my foster parents decided they had to adopt and treat me with daily injections for months. It worked! I’M CURED! They love me lots, but my foster brothers (Gritty and Gizmo) are a bit older and a bit tired of my kitten-age antics so, I need to find a new family to love and play with, maybe even with other kitties my age or a fun dog.

I'm a little grumpy about being at Pet Smart but, this doesn’t represent me. I’m a 5-star cat and I know the right family is out there for me.

My favorite song is "Yeah!" by Usher. I'm not afraid of loud noises, like most cats. I am curious and given the opportunity, I will figure out and break into the food bin, because I love to eat!  I'm Smart, Cute, Soft, Fun, Hungry, Silly and Chonky. No, that isn't the 7 dwarves, it's all me and I'm going to be a BIG BOY!

Chonkers was successfully treated for FIP, and is considered cured.
