Meet Target: A Survivor with a Heart of Gold

At 5 years old, Target is a sweet, goofy, and adventurous Lab mix with a story of incredible resilience. Despite enduring unthinkable hardship—surviving being shot three times—his spirit remains unbreakable, and his love for people shines through. Fully healed and as loving as ever, Target is ready to embark on a new chapter with a family who will cherish him as much as he cherishes them.

House and kennel trained, he’s a well-mannered companion who thrives on human connection. He gets along well with other dogs, though his curiosity about cats may make feline friends a challenge. Whether it’s a long walk, a fun road trip, or just lounging by your side, Target is eager to be your loyal adventure buddy.

Since we make a lifetime commitment to any animal that comes into our program, we only adopt out animals to people in our area..

If you are interested in adopting a CAWS cat or dog, please fill out the online application at http://www.caws.org/application/, email adopt@caws.org or call 328-4731. For the most timely response applying online is recommended.

We respond as quickly as possible but as we are a volunteer based organization and do not have full time staff, we respond as quickly as possible.

CAWS does not have a conventional shelter facility - all CAWS animals waiting for adoption are in foster homes. The number of animals we can help find new homes for is closely linked to how many CAWS foster homes are available. CAWS volunteers bring cats and dogs to the PetSmart near 2100 South and 300 West in South Salt Lake on the third and fourth weekends of each month

We are also at the Sugarhouse PETCO (1165 Wilmington Ave) the first Saturday of each month.
