Velvet is living in a foster home. Please submit an application from our website and/or email dogs@heartlandanimalshelter.org to learn if you are a match!

Velvet has not had the easiest life. She was brought into Chicago Animal Care and Control as an emaciated stray, and with some sort of burn on her tail. Her flat and somewhat inverted feet are clear indications of over-confinement (they are known as "crate feet"). Despite all of this, she is the sweetest and most loving little lady. She adores everyone and will make you feel like the most special person on the planet.
Velvet has that "perma-puppy" look and we just love her size and her sweet teddy-bear face. She is great with people and friendly other dogs.
Due to the recent flooding at our shelter, Velvet (and all of the dogs) had to find temporary placement. Velvet was boarded at Dog Stop in Deerfield for several days, where she had a ball in their large playgroups (see videos!). Now Velvet is living it up at Doggie Days in Round Lake Beach, where she gets lots of human attention and playdates with her dog friends.
Velvet is so deserving of a nice soft bed and her own human to curl up with. We hope you will ask about her today, and we are happy to arrange for you to meet her.
Velvet's adoption fee is $250. This animal is spayed, up to date on core vaccines, and Heartworm negative.
