This tiny kitten was found in the middle of a busy highway in Somerset, KY during a torrential downpour! Cars were going over her and one lady stopped, got this baby out of danger, then called SPCHS for help. We've named her Lily Pearl.
Once she was safely in her foster home, she ate like she was starving. She is friendly and likes to be held. She's scheduled for standard kitten vetting (kitten vaccines, screening), and will be tested for FeLUK/FIV, spayed and micro-chipped when she is old enough. At the moment, we think she is 6-7 weeks old, so she's not quite ready for adoption yet, but she is happy to start reviewing applications!
NOTE: Kittens cannot be accurately tested for FIV/FeLeuk until at least 10-12 weeks of age. S-PCHS does not allow untested kittens to go to their forever homes until they show a negative test. Applications may be submitted for review, but kitten adoptions will only be finalized when after age appropriate testing is complete.
As with all YOUNG kittens, SPCHS will not permit Lily Pearl to be adopted by a family with children under 6 years old.

After you complete an application, there are several things that we will do:
1. We will check your personal references. Please be sure to list two personal references and include a phone number and an email address. (form asks for one; but I like two)
2. If you do not own your place of residence, we will call your landlord or leasing office. Please check with them first to learn about their pet policy.
3. We will call your veterinarian for a reference. We are looking for a history of annual exams, vaccines maintained routinely, annual heartworm tests and monthly preventatives. We require the following:
* All pets in the home must be spayed or neutered.
* If your pet is not up to date on vaccines, please do not submit the application until you have scheduled an appointment with the vet to get your pets current on their vaccines.
4. If you are a 1st-time pet owner, please include the name and phone number of the veterinarian you plan to use.
5. Be sure to call your Vet(s), giving them permission to speak with us.
6. We may need to do a home visit prior to approving your application, or post-adoption.
If these policies and practices are not acceptable, please do not apply.
