My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This is Pretzel. He and his dad Maxwell are a bonded pair of beautiful Goldens looking for a home where they can be adopted together. Maxwell would be ok without Pretzel, but Pretzel would be a total mess without Maxwell, so we need them to stay together! Pretzel is 1.5 years old and just about 50lbs and super handsome. You can't tell with this pictureof him, so you have to take our word for it til you meet him... we apologize for the picture as we are working on more ASAP! They are being turned in due to their owners health and they can no longer care for the boys properly.

We are still learning about these boys, but we know Pretzel needs more work than his dad. He is house-trained and crate-trained, but needs work on obedience training and leash walking manners. These boys are going to need a family who has the time and patience to help them acclimate to a new home and give them the exercise and direction they need to be good boys! Pretzel had not been socialized much and has only really been around Maxwell and his owner, so socialization will be very important for him.

Please check back for more info on these boys, but if you would like to meet them to foster or adopt them, please fill out an app at GRRAND.org

More about this rescue

Early in 1994, members of the Greater Louisville Golden Retriever Club began to see the need for an organization to rehabilitate and find homes for displaced and abused Golden Retrievers. A number of folks in this club began organizing an ad hoc rescue group. As the number of rescues increased over a period of months, this “wet behind the ears” group came up with a name and in 1996, incorporated the organization now known as Golden Retriever Rescue & Adoption of Needy Dogs (GRRAND). The rest, as they say, is history!
