My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

6 year old, Koga was rescued by a family in Anacortes, WA about 4.5 years ago and he's been doing well until recently when life changed really quick. They have 2 new children in the home (3 month old), tons of visitors in and out all day and Koga is taking his protection job seriously. They are looking to do a home to home adoption and keep him until we find just the right family with land for him to run and be free. He needs more room to run and be a big beautiful Great Pyr/Anatolian mix that he is. His protection instincts are strong. He does well with other dogs that are introduced properly and smaller than him. He does amazing with the children of the family and takes his job incredibly seriously. He does take some allergy meds for some excessive itching but other than that he's healthy. He does well in a crate if zip tied closed and is house broken. He is neutered and UTD on shots. He will resource guard so best to feed this boy alone.

From the family:Koga has shown signs of aggression which have become increasingly concerning. Despite our efforts to manage and address these behaviors through training and professional help, we have not seen the improvement needed to ensure the safety of our household, especially with small children. He initially was leash aggressive and has nipped people on our walks. He has always been aggressive towards men. He has nipped our male friend in our home most recently. We believe that Koga would thrive in an environment without young children, where his specific needs can be better met by someone experienced in handling Koga is a loyal and intelligent dog and we are confident that with the right care and environment he can lead a happy and fulfilling life.

Additional adoption info

Great Pyrenees Rescue, Montana's mission is to help rehabilitate abused and displaced Great Pyrenees dogs, and find them the best forever home.

Adopting a friend
We work hard to find the best home for our dogs. We want this home to be their forever home. An adoption application is required with a vet reference. A home visit is also done. PERMANENT, SECURE FENCING IS REQUIRED Our adoption donation for most dogs is $275.00 for our dogs and this money is used to cover vet expense, spay/neuter charges, transport expense and caring for our dogs until they are adopted. A senior dog age 8 or older and our special needs dogs, we ask for $175.00 donation. This adoption donation is lower because you may need more health care for the seniors or special needs. We want them all to find a happy home and to be loved forever. FENCING FOR THIS BREED NEEDS TO BE AT LEAST 5 FOOT HIGH.
NOTE: The electric underground fencing is unacceptable for this breed.

More about this rescue

Please note: We are not a shelter. We are a group of volunteers. All of our dogs are fostered at someone's home OR at Old Farm Kennels. They are loved by their foster parents, some of them are socialized and their personalities and traits are well known by the foster family.
