My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Yama, a sweet and soulful 3-year-old girl weighing 46 pounds. With her giant head full of love and kisses, Yama is the ultimate cuddle companion who has quickly mastered the art of couch lounging. Her favorite napping position? Flat on her back with her legs straight out—a sign of true relaxation and trust.

Yama greets you with a big, heartwarming smile every time you walk in, but she’s polite and doesn’t jump. She’s been through a lot (her scars tell a story we can only imagine) and has clearly been a mama before, but her resilience and affectionate nature shine through.

This loving girl is a little shy around men at first but quickly warms up, especially with some gentle ear rubs—she melts into them like butter! Yama thinks she’s a lap dog and isn’t shy about showing her affection with kisses.

Yama is playful and has a fun side, especially when it comes to toys and fetch. She’s on a mission to liberate every squeaker in her toys and is learning how to drop the ball during fetch sessions. She would thrive with a doggy friend who’s similar in size and energy to help her play and bond.

She’s quiet around the house, and while she’s barked only once to protect her yard, she seems to prefer a calm, loving environment. Yama adores teens and could be great with older children, but she hasn’t been around small kids or tiny dogs. Her squirrel-chasing instincts suggest she’d do best in a home without very small pets.

All Yama wants is to be with her people, soak up all the pets, and enjoy some well-deserved treats. She’s ready to be someone’s loyal best friend—could that be you?
