She`s the perfect companion for active families, always ready to join in on a game of fetch or a leisurely walk. She weighs 43 pounds and also likes car rides, running, tugging, toys, and water. Despite her energetic nature, Maggie is also a cuddle bug who loves nothing more than to snuggle up with her human friends. She`s always ready to offer her affection in abundance. She`s a social butterfly, making friends with both dogs and cats alike. Children are her favorite, she`s gentle yet jumpy around them, making every day a fun-filled experience. She thrives in the companionship of humans and never wants to be alone. Her curiosity knows no bounds, making her the perfect partner for exploring new places and learning new tricks. She already knows the sit command. Maggie is house trained, making her a perfect indoor companion. Her protective nature ensures she`ll always look out for you, while her tolerance makes her a joy to be around even though she doesn`t like sharing her toys with other dogs. Pet Adoption Fees
CAP adoption fees include a variety of services - age-appropriate vaccinations, canine heartworm, and feline leukemia tests, spaying/neutering, deworming treatment, microchipping to name a few - the total value of which exceeds $450. These minimal adoption fees cover only part of each animal's stay at our shelter - please help us keep adoption fees low while maintaining the high quality of care for the animals in our charge by donating and/or volunteering.

A second dog or puppy, adopted within 30 days of the first adoption receives a $20 discount.

Military Families - 50% of adoption fees waived for military personnel and veterans. (proof of eligibility required)

Citizens For Animal Protection, founded in 1972, is committed to sheltering, rescuing, and placing homeless animals in loving homes; advocating respect and compassion for all animal life; providing humane education to prevent animal cruelty; and raising awareness in the community of the needs of animals.
CAP is proud to announce that through life-saving adoption and transfer programs and a lot of hard work, we have maintained a placement rate of over 93% for all homeless pets surrendered to our shelter in 2021. In 2021, CAP provided care for 10,260 animals; this includes animals surrendered by the public and transferred in from animal control agencies and rescue groups, animals already in the shelter and foster care program, feral cats trapped/neutered/returned and animals receiving vaccinations and other treatments in our low-cost vaccination clinic, The Cornelius Clinic.
