Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
This gentle & soft soul has been waiting since September to find her forever family.
Saylor is aged at 4 years old, spayed, heartworm negative, microchipped, & up to date on vaccines & preventatives.
Saylor originally came to us in gut-wrenching conditions; she was severely underweight, her spirit had been broken, and the life inside of her had been taken away. We knew that after her vet appointments & putting weight on, she really just needed three very simple things:
- Food
- Love
- Time
(The key to any heart!)
Saylor is a wallflower, but enjoys the company of size appropriate dog friends; she is still trying to find her place in the world, and she can feel overwhelmed by too much stimulation & excitement…just like us sometimes. In Saylor’s free time, she enjoys exploring the backyard, listening to the birds, and cuddling up on a nearby dog bed. Saylor truly desires companionship, and she has been waiting for her heart to connect with a forever family.
Despite Saylor’s fears, she is slowly blossoming and making progress….but she really needs your help. Saylor desperately needs to find a foster or forever family, as she is struggling to adapt without support from a family. She would make a great fit for families who can offer her love, care, patience, attention, and time. Saylor would not make a good fit for families with young children or families with cat friends.
If you’re in a position to foster or looking to adopt, please consider opening your home and your heart to Saylor.
We promise she will happily give her heart right back to you.

More about this rescue
Misfit Mountain is a foster-based animal rescue in the Greater Asheville area helping dogs, cats, pigs, chickens, and small animals find their forever home.
Our Story:
At Misfit Mountain we don’t just offer another chance at life, we offer our animals a home, a place where bellies are full, love is bountiful, and nose boops are the usual. We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization serving the Western North Carolina area. Some animals just pass through until they are healthy and well enough to find their forever home. Others stay awhile, sometimes forever. We are a no kill, all love, and one beautiful mountain of loveable misfits.
Mission: We accept misfits of all shapes and sizes and are committed to providing the best quality of life and care for homeless animals in Western North Carolina.
Vision: We strive to create a no-kill animal community unless deemed medically required due to quality of life or safety concerns. We believe no animal should ever be euthanized due to financial or spacing limitations.
