Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Back in August of 2024, we helped out three Misfit dogs who were in deplorable conditions; Forest was one of the three.
When we first met this trio, we were in complete shock, but we knew we didn’t have time to waste…
The first few weeks were the most crucial, and we were on high alert to ensure all three were making progress. It didn’t take long for these kiddos to find their foster families, and Forest found a great one who nursed him back to health over the coming months! Forest adjusted quickly to having a family and a home.
Once Forest made it to an appropriate weight, he was a surgery candidate for his neuter! Thanks to our friends at Asheville Humane Society, we were able to get Forest neutered, microchipped, and officially cleared for adoption!
(He was vaccinated prior to surgery)
After a long, long road of everything Forest has endured, he is finally safe, loved, and ALWAYS has a full belly now. This boy has crossed mountains to get here, and he never gave up….even when he was nothing but a walking skeleton, he still had hope and he still had love.
Now it's time for Forest to find his FOREVER family and live the life he deserves. If you're interested in fostering or adopting Forest, please reach out so we can introduce you!

More about this rescue
Misfit Mountain is a foster-based animal rescue in the Greater Asheville area helping dogs, cats, pigs, chickens, and small animals find their forever home.
Our Story:
At Misfit Mountain we don’t just offer another chance at life, we offer our animals a home, a place where bellies are full, love is bountiful, and nose boops are the usual. We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization serving the Western North Carolina area. Some animals just pass through until they are healthy and well enough to find their forever home. Others stay awhile, sometimes forever. We are a no kill, all love, and one beautiful mountain of loveable misfits.
Mission: We accept misfits of all shapes and sizes and are committed to providing the best quality of life and care for homeless animals in Western North Carolina.
Vision: We strive to create a no-kill animal community unless deemed medically required due to quality of life or safety concerns. We believe no animal should ever be euthanized due to financial or spacing limitations.
