My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My name is Esme and I am from Minnesota.

I am a two year old cat with the heart and playfulness of a kitten. In the beginning of May I had a litter and raised them well despite sickness and other challenges. Now back to full health, I am a fluffy explorer ready for new toys.

I currently live with two resident male cats twice my size and two of my boys, who have both outgrown me. Listen closely for my meow, I frequently talk but my high pitched chirps are very quiet.

Esme enjoys playing both by herself and with others, her favorite toys being stuffed mice, catnip bananas, and thrown hair ties. Her favorite place to relax is anywhere she can keep an eye on her humans and be within reach of a walk by head pat.

Esme will tolerate being picked up for short periods but prefers to be on her own feet and is not a lap cat. She enjoys likes pet and will let you know when she is done by trying to play with your hand or giving delicate nibbles.

The Bond Between's goal is to not keep any animals at our rescue office. The majority of our animals are living in foster homes until they are adopted. Occasionally, animals are living in our rescue office that are in need of a foster home.

The Bond Between is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that focuses on the bond between humans and animals. We were founded in 2009 as Secondhand Hounds. Since then, we have rescued over 29,000 dogs and cats with the help of thousands of fosters, volunteers, and supporters in our community. Our organization has grown from a rescue to a first-in-its-class animal wellbeing organization... now The Bond Between! We continue to provide safe shelter, proper veterinary care, and daily necessities for animals while working hard to help them build a bond with humans. We also focus on supporting the bonds that already exist between people and pets with our pet food shelf, respite foster care program, and focus on social services.
