My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My name is Ivy and I am from Minnesota.

From her foster: Meet Ivy, the very bestest kitty in the world! She has an amazing personality and is so funny. She loves belly rubs. While I’m walking about the house, she frequently plops down in front of me (in a rather dramatic fashion) and do a biiig stretch. This seems to be her favorite time for belly rubs.

Ivy is a confident cat. She settled in to her foster home quickly. She’s great with the foster cats in the home and is eager to say hi/be part of the action when guests are here.

Ivy sleeps with me almost every night. She follows me around the house, trots over for pets any time I say her name and greets me when I come home. Ivy is not a snuggly cat, though. She does not curl up in your lap.

Ivy’s favorite form of play with other cats is running/chasing. Her favorite playmate in her foster home is a big male cat who is twice her size. Sometimes she will instigate play by jumping on and biting his neck. Based on this, I’d consider her to have more of a dominant than submissive personality in cat dynamics. There is another cat in her foster home that Ivy mostly leaves alone. This other cat is anxious and not ready to play with Ivy, which took Ivy some time to realize, but she now respects her space. In recent days, Ivy and this other are just starting to sort of play. It’s actually quite interesting to see the difference between her big bff and the other cat. Ivy seems to be good at adjusting her play based on the cat.

Ivy was found as a stray. She loves the posh life indoors, but she’s been known to try to slip past someone at the door. Her new family will need to be careful about this and ensure that everyone in the home knows how to close the door quickly. If her new family is willing to take her on walks (on a leash), she would love it.

Other things to know about Ivy:

- She has normal eating and drinking habits.
- She has perfect litter box manners. Her foster home gives her multiple boxes to choose from, and she seems to appreciate having more than one. She’s not picky.
- Ivy’s foster home does not have a dog, so we do not how she would do with a dog. Based on how confident and outgoing she is, it would not be a surprise to us if she got along with (cat-friendly) dogs.
- Ivy brings a lot of laughs. She gets the zoomies frequently. Sometimes it feels like she thinks we’re in a race and she wants to be first to wherever I’m headed!
- Ivy is also pretty stubborn. When she wants to do something, she won’t give up until she’s done it (e.g., discover the unknown world of a closed-door closet).

Ivy’s purrfect forever home will have:

- Another playful cat. Ivy is too playful and energetic to be alone.
- Possibly no young children. On occasion, she may scratch you but not in an aggressive manner. For example, if you’re slow to open her favorite treat (the lickable stuff), she’ll paw at your hands to try to get the treat. Once when Ivy was super revved up, she tried to play with my hair by leaping up towards my face when I bent down to get something.
- Space for zoomies.
- A lot of windows to watch birds, squirrels and other creatures. Bonus points if you have an enclosed porch! It’s her favorite place to be.
- Tall cat tree(s). She loves them.
- A person/people who love to love her!

Does Ivy sound like the cat you’ve been looking for? Fill out an application to meet her! She’ll love to meet you.

Go meet their pets

The Bond Between's goal is to not keep any animals at our rescue office. The majority of our animals are living in foster homes until they are adopted. Occasionally, animals are living in our rescue office that are in need of a foster home.

If you would like to meet an animal at our office who needs a foster, please reach out to inofficeanimals@thebondbetween.org and fill out our foster interest form at https://www.thebondbetween.org/foster

More about this rescue

The Bond Between is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that focuses on the bond between humans and animals. We were founded in 2009 as Secondhand Hounds. Since then, we have rescued over 29,000 dogs and cats with the help of thousands of fosters, volunteers, and supporters in our community. Our organization has grown from a rescue to a first-in-its-class animal wellbeing organization... now The Bond Between! We continue to provide safe shelter, proper veterinary care, and daily necessities for animals while working hard to help them build a bond with humans. We also focus on supporting the bonds that already exist between people and pets with our pet food shelf, respite foster care program, and focus on social services.

We wake up every morning saying YES to connecting people and animals, caring for them, and helping them fill each other’s hearts.

You can help support us today by donating, fostering, volunteering, or sharing The Bond Between.
