McKai is a playful, smart, and athletic male dog who is bursting with personality! Fully potty and crate trained, McKai considers his crate his safe haven, happily retreating there for some downtime whether the door is open or closed.

This lively pup gets excited to meet new people and is eager to make friends with every dog he encounters. His playful, kid-like energy makes him the life of the party, and his love for treats means he’s always ready to learn new tricks or follow commands in exchange for a tasty reward.

McKai is super cuddly and loves to be close to his humans, but he also has an independent streak, always seeking out something to chew on to keep himself entertained. He’s still learning to manage his enthusiasm—when he gets hyped, he can get a little mouthy and sometimes mistakes a hand for a toy, but with guidance, he’s making great progress.

CARE STL welcomes adopters to either come by the shelter or fill out an adoption application online to save some time at the shelter. The purpose of this application is to gather information about your home, pets, and general lifestyle to help our Match-Makers determine if the pet you wish to adopt is a good fit for both you and the pet.

CARE STL is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that serves as the established, No-Kill animal shelter for the City of St. Louis Animal Care and Control. We provide animal regulation services and help the city enforce Title 10 of the City of St. Louis Ordinance relevant to animal care and control; however, CARE STL also enforces and embraces the No-Kill equation and follows the guiding principles of no-kill shelters.
