My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Azula is very fiery (after her namesake) but extremely friendly and fun. She has spent the last two and a half months with three other dogs: a one year old pup just her size, an older corgi, and an old man chihuahua. She has also had 6 and 8 year old human siblings. She loves playing with the other dogs, even when they don’t want to play. She’s a curious and clumsy little pup and she likes to be where you are, whether that’s walking about the house and yard or curling up on the couch. Her absolute FAVORITE toys are stuffed animals. She likes to dig through them and pull out the squeakers. She doesn’t bite people much anymore, but will absolutely demolish a stuffed animal. At this point in time, Azula’s main issues are probably her nervous peeing and her jumping. The nervous/submissive peeing is obviously something that will lessen over time, and I have figured out a pretty good routine to keep her from doing it indoors, mainly. At this point it’s down to continuing with the training and waiting for the spay to see how it improves, but not a big deal if you’re consistent. Her jumping is also not a huge concern because she mainly does it when she’s excited for food, and she jumps and twirls in a circle so it’s actually pretty cute, plus she’s just a pup. But, she has jumped and put her paws on the counter before, so it will need some training. Zuzu, as my kids sometimes like to call her, is crate trained for short periods during the day and used to sleep in the crate at night, but as she has gotten older she’s been allowed to sleep on the bed at night, so she may complain if she has to sleep in a crate at night again. She does NOT do well in the car!! The only problem I’m having that I can’t find a solution for is her new need to bother my old man chihuahua. She isn’t biting him but she bothers him incessantly and it is getting worse. I have tried keeping them separated but it hasn’t worked well and also isn’t fair to anybody to be kept separate. The old man doesn’t have anymore teeth and as terrible as I feel for Azula, my grumpy boy deserves to have a peaceful last few days. We will miss her, but know she will do well with a new family. I think ideally Zuzu would go to a family, with kids and other dogs (just not old ones). She loves socialization and playing with others! I wish the absolute best for her.
