My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello! My name is Penny, and I'm a 3-year-old, 40 pound, brown and white Pit Bull mix. I love car rides but have trouble getting in and out of tall vehicles, though I'm very gracious about being picked up and carried. I will let you hold me in your arms like a baby and give me all the kisses. I love my kitty companion and have been great with all the dogs I've met.

I'm happy to let you touch my ears, feet, tummy, and mouth. I've shown no signs of resource, food, water, companion, or toy guarding. I even love to share a bowl of water with Dobby and Mouser. I do well with kids, but rambunctious kids make me nervous, and I will react to it. Older kids over 10 would be best. I'm crate trained, potty trained, and do well on a leash. I'm very high energy when I play and am happy to cuddle up beside you for a snooze.

I'm spayed, up to date on all my vaccinations and heartworm negative. Currently, I'm in La Plata, MD, but I can be transported out of state for the right home. Must be 21 or older to apply.

Go meet their pets

Our adoptable dogs are all in various foster homes and can be met by contacting rescue. Rescue will then provide foster home's contact information. Meet and greets will be arranged between foster and potential adopters. We also have adoption events at Petsmart on various dates which can be checked on our Facebook page, Operation Save a Shelter Dog.

More about this rescue

Our Mission

Operation Save A Shelter Dog is a foster based, IRS-recognized 501c(3) rescue whose mission is to work with shelters on the East Coast by saving dogs at high risk of euthanasia or that have little hope of adoption in their current condition. Not only is it our goal to find furever homes for our dogs, but also to educate the public on the importance of spaying, neutering, vaccinating and providing preventative care for their pets.
