Here's what the humans have to say about me:
I'm new to PAWS of GH and I am entering the Freedom Tails training program! I will be learning new skills starting December 5th and graduating at the end of February. A completed and approved application is needed to schedule a meet and greet. Stay tuned, more info coming soon!!
12/19/25 Greetings everyone! I’m Phonsavanh, a handler at the Freedom Tails Dog Program at Stafford Creek Corrections Center. This 12 week program involved incarcerated individuals, like myself, training dogs on leash walking, potty training and various cues using hand signals. Think - sit, wait, by me, take it, leave it, bring it, up, off back and kennel/crate. As these dogs progress potential adopters, like you, can rest assured your future loyal companion will be ready for a loving home. This program offers a second chance for both the dogs and us fostering appreciation for human/canine interactions. It teaches patience and provides a sense of normalcy for dogs and humans alike!
It brings me great joy to introduce Harry! He’s a young, all white poodle (possibly a mix) full of energy and joy! If you're looking for a mature, almost too calm dog - Harry is not your guy. This playful pup, estimated to be 8-12 months old, is always on the go and brings laughter and smiles with his outgoing personality. He’s friendly with both dogs and humans, loves treats and toys and is very smart, though tad stubborn at times. Harry craves love and attention. His loyalty makes sure he’s always by your side. This young pup is still growing and looking for his forever home to shower him with love and care. Don't miss out on bringing this spark of life into your home.
Curious how Harry ended up here? Here's his story with a bit of creative flair for the dramatics courtesy of my imagination…. Harry was a young puppy training to be a show dog at a poodle school when he was stolen and set to be sold on the black market. He managed to escape and was left to survive on his own. Found wandering the streets, hungry, scared and dirty he was picked up as a stray with no one claiming him. Now instead of show dog training he’s here with me, getting ready to be a wonderful companion for his next family forever. Tune in every week to hear from Harry himself as he shares insights and updates from his journey in the program. Until next time, Take care! ______________________________________________________________________________
12/26/24 Hi, I’m Harry the poodle. Life for me hasn't always been the greatest. I got abandoned one day and left to survive the streets all by myself finding shelter, food and water. It was difficult but I got by. I was eventually picked-up by Aberdeen Animal Control and brought to PAWS where they put me in a foster home for a little bit. My foster mom got me all cleaned up, gave me a fresh shave and shower and well… look at me now! Now I’m at Freedom Tails at SCCC learning how to be the best boy for my new forever home. I was a bit nervous coming to Freedom Tails at first. I remember walking through the big gate curious about this new place I'll be calling home. Once in the facility I was handed over to some random guy. I was uncertain about him so I kept my cool, gave him a quick smell… then he gave me a treat! This new place I’m in now has so many new smells that my nose was so excited to smell! There are so many people here and I got to say hi to almost everyone! They may have looked at me like I was crazy but that's only because I forgot that humans speak a different language than bark. I was just saying hello! I explored my new area and realized there were other dogs here too! I was so relieved to realize there were others like me here too! NEW FRIENDS! My best friend here is Athena. I love playing with her but I think she gets tired of me sometimes… HAHA! Life is good here and I'm learning so much! So far I know sit, wait, leave it, with my & by me. I’m having a tad bit of trouble with “stay”….. It’s hard because I have little flashbacks of being left alone in the world to fend for myself but it’s getting easier every day I’m here. Plus I get so many treats when I do! Stay tuned for my next update! _____________________________________________________________________________
1/02/25 Phon here, aka the handler. Never in my life had I come close to a poodle until Harry. The furry white fella is probably the funniest and goofiest dogs I've ever met. He;s a constant gogo dog with his high energy, always on the move and wanting to have fun and play. He’s very vocal and social with dogs and humans. Everyone loves him, his outgoing hyper personality makes others smile and laugh. He’s always looking to say hello and get a rub on his belly. Training him can get frustrating at times because he can be stubborn and easily side tracked but he’s a smart boy and learns quickly. He just has to be in the mood to learn and not just get loved on. Harry has taken me around more yard circles than I have even taken in my life! When I say he moves, he loves moving! He loves his chew toys and will settle when given one. He loves to chase balls, birds and will do anything for a treat! He especially loves the dental sticks. Harry is a blessing to have and will make anyone happy. He's loyal and wants to be at your side. He does struggle with separation anxiety. I would too if I was abandoned but we’re working on it and he’s getting better! That’s all I have for you this week, until next time. Take care. Please apply to adopt at: http://www.pawsgh.org

More about this shelter
PAWS finds new families for stray dogs and cats as well as owner surrendered pets. We also accept animals brought to us by concerned citizens and local animal control agencies and do our best to find them suitable homes. Our mission is to find homes and offer direct care for as many of these loveable pets as possible. PAWS attempts to prevent the birth of unwanted animals through education and spay/neuter programs.
PAWS of Grays Harbor is a strictly non-profit organization and we survive because of donations from our community. All of the animals we adopt out are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, and treated for fleas. Sometimes, the animals we rescue require additional veterinary care. Without your donations, none of this would be possible. Thank you for your support, we couldn’t do it without you.
