Sawyer is a sweet 4-1/2 year old male Shepherd/Hound mix who was brought to the HSOV on December 2, 2024 by Good Samaritans after he was found on Springston Road in the Vincent Ohio area. Those compassionate folks kept him safe for two weeks or so while they tried in vain to locate his owner. Sawyer was not wearing a collar, and he was not microchipped.
This good-looking boy has a black-and-brown short smooth coat with a tan undercoat, a long tail, and an adorable face with dark brown eyes, a dusting of white on his slender muzzle, and short floppy ears that he sometimes holds semi-erect.
The kind family with whom Sawyer spent those two weeks reported that he was had a sweet, lovable personality and was good with children and that he was housetrained. He was good with other dogs that were about the same size, but he wasn't good with smaller dogs (especially if they growled at him).
These photos of Sawyer were taken on December 4, 2024 when HSOV Volunteer Emma Dahlgren accompanied him for outdoor pictures and an opportunity to have a 'bathroom break'/exercise. Sawyer was the perfect gentleman for Emma and was a pushover for attention from her. We aren't sure how Sawyer feels about kitties since he seemed a little too interested in one of the shelter mascot cats who was teasing him during his photo session.
Sawyer weighs 55.8 lbs and was fairly gentle on a leash for Emma.
In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Sawyer will be held for three days so that his family will have an opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership.
