Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Kane is our resident special needs pup. He came into the shelter as a stray-and following his intake exam and evaluation, it is believed that Kane is deaf.
Despite Kane's not-so appealing behavior in the kennel, he was quite the cutie pie with Star, a female canine resident. He displayed medium energy, was low-key and took corrections well when needed.
Kane was not a fan of the leash initially-and performed lots of dance moves-twirling and spinning when collared-he has gotten so much better with the collar-but is not a fan of our shelter wrap technique, which involves reaching around his body and securing the leash under his front legs. Who knows what he relates this wrapping maneuver to from his past-but he loves treats and it is becoming easier to distract him with treats while getting him ready to leave his kennel.
He leaves his kennel easily and is doing so much better walking on leash. He stays close to your legs and seems to gain confidence and finds comfort when the leash is held taught beside of him-so that he knows his person is beside him, and he is not alone outside. He loves to be outside sniffing and looking at everything-taking the world in.
Kane came in as a stray-we don't know his past-but know that he is in a safe place here at the shelter. And we know that the right family is out there for this well deserving sweet dog.
If you're interested in learning more about him, please reach out to our volunteer matchmakers at wcac.matchmaker@gmail.com with the subject line "Kane 252050".
Kane is up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick, and heartworm prevention, is microchipped, and will be neutered prior to going home. If you have dogs or cats, we recommend slow introductions over time. If you have children in your home, we recommend supervision between animals and children at all times. Primary Color: White Weight: 53 Age: 3yrs 5mths 2wks
