Curly All you need is love. I`m quoting the Beatles because this is so true. I am a 6-year-old, grey female cat already spayed, but I was never a beloved pet. Until now, my life has been awful. However, on November 9, a kind person found me and brought me to HSHC, and my life was completely changed. When the medical staff examined me, they found that my left rear leg had long ago been severely broken, and my tail was significantly damaged. Being a stray, I had learned to live with it. I was terrified of being touched, and I was hissy and reactive. After undergoing surgery to remove my leg and tail, I began to relax and accept their comforting medications and TLC. I moved into a foster home to recover, and my life got even better! My foster mom has this to say about me. Curly`s litterbox skills are excellent; she`s incredibly well-behaved and playful. An absolute dream cat! Initially, she was shy, but now she is always out and about. She is friendly with adults and older kids. She is affectionate, sitting at your feet, following you, and brushing against you, but she likes to keep a little space between you. Her tail is still recovering; she needs a cone until it heals. Because the cone prevents her from seeing around her, she`s easily startled. The cone also makes her a messy eater! She loves hunting toy mice. She gets the late-night zoomies and rolls around catching them. She is so fast for a three-legged cat! Curly runs, climbs stairs, and thumps around with no problem. I love her. If you are looking for an affectionate, resilient, brave little cat, my foster mom would highly recommend me! If you think you could be the loving home I`ve been waiting for, please don`t hesitate to contact my foster mom or the HSHC adoption center. 1-7-25

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.
This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
