Blue came to the shelter in critical condition and need lifesaving care. It`s been a long road to recovery but he`s alive and thriving and ready for his next chapter. He`s a happy, loving boy who wants to please and be with his people. Blue`s history with other pets is unknown. He weighs 64 pounds and is still gaining.
Wandering Rover Report: We enjoyed our day with Blue! We played a lot of fetch in the backyard, went for a walk, and lounged around the house. Blue was very well behaved the entire time. In fact, Blue didn`t bark, whine, or make a single sound almost the entire day! He was very calm unless we had a ball in our hands ready to throw ?? Blue seems to have some house manners but is very food motivated and could easily learn more! He followed me around the house and sat nicely while we ate our lunch. Blue wasn`t much of a cuddler with us but I could see that changing once he`s more comfortable.
Another Rover reported: We walked around (~16,000 steps, by my wife`s watch) in Langus Park and Narbeck Sanctuary, and played fetch with a squeaky tennis ball in our backyard. He loves fetch, and he`s very good about returning the ball to the thrower. He had no interest in the frisbee; it was all about the tennis ball. While he readily got into a crate for the ride to our house, he was very reluctant to return to it a few hours later for the return to the shelter, and had to be persuaded with a tennis ball. He was also very anxious during the truck ride to and from our house as well. He cried most of the way, even though he was quickly back to his normal happy excited self on arrival at the house and the shelter. Blue`s leash manners are lacking; he pulls hard, and since he is both active and strong, you have to be careful of that. He seems to know some basic commands; he reliably responds correctly to `leave it,` and his recall (in the back yard) was pretty good, a clap and his name and he would return. He can `sit` as well, but seemingly not for more than 2 seconds. He is very energetic, but exhibited no aggression at all, and twice, with very little persuasion needed, almost completely ignored other dogs seen at a distance, including one which was barking at him. However, he has a fascination with birds, and clearly wanted to join some ducks in the wat

Our shelter is currently closed for general animal viewing, but we’ve still got awesome dogs, cats and other critters waiting for new families to come and adopt them. To help keep our staff, volunteers and community healthy, we are now providing adoptions by appointment. This enables us to comply with social distancing guidelines while still finding loving homes for the pets in our care.
How does this work?
First, check out our available animals online. If you see an animal you’re interested in, visit our website (www.everettwa.gov/161/Adopt-a-Pet) to complete an online adoption application.
Our staff will review your application and contact you to discuss the adoption. Please note that we receive many applications, and it may take up to a week before you are contacted.
Adoption appointments are set up using strict social distancing protocols, and many transactions are processed ‘curbside’ outdoors. Our staff will go over appointment details when they speak with you.
Renters bring rental pet policy at time of adoption. Not having the rental pet policy available may delay or nullify an adoption.
Animals are usually able to go home right away, so be prepared for your new pet to leave with you.
CATS
- Adult cats (over 6 months): $50
- Kittens (6 months and under): $125
- Two kittens adopted at the same time: $200
SMALL ANIMALS & BIRDS
- Adoption fees vary based on species
