Mac’s story is one of love, loss, and the hope for a new beginning. Once a cherished member of a family in Mobile, Alabama, Mac’s journey took an unexpected turn when he managed to slip away from home. His family searched tirelessly for him, but somehow, Mac found himself miles away in D’Iberville, Mississippi, where a kind-hearted stranger spotted him and kept him safe.
When Mac was brought to HSSM, we discovered his microchip and contacted his owners, who were overjoyed to learn he had been found. Sadly, their circumstances had changed—they had opened their home to family members in need and could no longer provide Mac with the space and attention he deserved. Heartbroken, they made the difficult decision to let him go in hopes that he would find a new family to love him just as much as they do.
At 45 pounds, Mac is a compact, stocky bundle of affection with a heart as big as his journey. He’s housetrained, knows how to sit on command, and has been a great companion to kids. While he’s friendly with cats, he does enjoy a good game of chase, so a cat-savvy household would be ideal.
Mac is neutered, heartworm negative, and ready to begin the next chapter of his life. He’s looking for a family who will cherish him as much as his first one did—a family who will keep him safe and give him the love and stability he deserves.
Could your home be where Mac’s story takes its happy turn? Come meet this precious boy and see if he’s the missing piece of your family.
