My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ginger is a sweet and playful fellow. He likes to play with his brother, Paprika, as well as other foster kittens. They chase each other, wrestle, and enjoy darting in and out of tunnels. He plays by himself, and loves chasing wand toys. When playtime is over, Ginger will be happy to sit in your lap. He will even try to nurse on your skin. When he's in the mood, he'll follow you around, seeking attention. Ginger had a bad cold, which caused eye problems for him, but eye drops and antibiotics have cleared it up. Being adopted together with his brother, Paprika, would be ideal, but not necessary. They have become very close throughout the ordeal with their eyes.

All of our dogs, cats, rabbits & ferrets are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. Small animals are usually not altered. We have adoption applications, a short interview process, and an adoption fee for each animal. All animals (except rabbits & small animals) are up to date on all shots.

We hold adoption events on Saturdays at Petsmart in Mishawaka from 11-3. We also hold other events throughout the year. Heartland Small Animal Rescue Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization serving South Bend, IN and surrounding towns by taking in homeless pets and adopting them out into loving homes. We also work closely with local shelters to reduce euthanasia rates by pulling animals and putting them in our program.
