My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Paprika is a handsome orange tabby kitten. He loves to play...he will chase wand toys with enthusiasm. When he settles down to rest, he welcomes petting, and will sit in your lap to be cuddled. He's such a sweet little guy! Because Paprika had to have eye drops for a long time, he is wary, especially of his foster mom, and sometimes elusive. He continues to have a slight eye problem with one eye, which is a bit cloudy, but the vet says it will continue to heal. His vision is fine as one can see when he plays. Being adopted together with his brother, Ginger, would be ideal, but not necessary. They have become very close throughout the ordeal with their eyes.

All of our dogs, cats, rabbits & ferrets are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. Small animals are usually not altered. We have adoption applications, a short interview process, and an adoption fee for each animal. All animals (except rabbits & small animals) are up to date on all shots.

We hold adoption events on Saturdays at Petsmart in Mishawaka from 11-3. We also hold other events throughout the year. Heartland Small Animal Rescue Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization serving South Bend, IN and surrounding towns by taking in homeless pets and adopting them out into loving homes. We also work closely with local shelters to reduce euthanasia rates by pulling animals and putting them in our program.
