Only Elisa knows what kind of abuse & trauma she endured during the first 2 yrs of her life that has made her SO skittish, fearful & submissive. We saved her from a rural shelter after we were informed that she was in full labor, and we couldn't let the puppies be born on a cold, hard & dirty cement floor. We were just in time. Within 24 hours, Elisa gave birth to 8 healthy puppies in her foster home, and was the best Momma to them all. Fast forward 2 months later, puppies are getting adopted, and Elisa needs a forever home of her very own. Approximately 2 yrs old & 50 lbs, she is a sweet, sweet girl that wants to trust and be loved so badly, but humans had disappointed her so much in her past, that her first impulse is fear & to flee.
She is not mean, nor growls, nor barks - she just hides.
Any sudden movements or loud noises make her cower.
She needs a home with unconditional love & preferably another fur friend that can be her role model, although it's not necessary, as she can be the only dog.
She is potty & crate trained, and gives no attention to the cat. Elisa needs a home that is willing to be patient with her as she learns that humans are not all bad, and pets and scratches feel so good and that no one will ever hurt her again.
Is this person you ? Please apply to meet this fragile girl that has improved SO much in her foster home already & is ready to give humans another go at it to prove to her that she is worthy of a caring home, good food & treats, a soft bed, & lots & lots of love.
Thank you for your interest in one of our Hero Babies! Before inquiring, we thought it was important to share a few of our policies.
Your Current Pets - We do require that your current dogs and cats are current on vaccines and spayed/neutered.
Adoptions - We do not have a shelter and are a foster-home based organization. We do require that you have an approved adoption application to schedule a meet and greet. You can fill out an adoption application on our website, www.herorescue.org/adopt. Once your application is approved it will be sent to the foster family that is currently caring for the dog. They will be able to provide information on likes, dislikes, personality, etc. They will also schedule a time for you to meet the dog. We do require a home visit prior to adoption.
Inquiries - If you would like more information on any dogs in the rescue, please email us at info@herorescue.org.
